Finding the place was frustrating, but once we got there, they upgraded us to make up for the trouble. We’d booked a one-room cabin with a small bathroom and ended up in one with a kitchenette, living room, bedroom, and a bath with both a shower and tub. I was surprised the bedroom didn’t have a TV, since the cabin could sleep four, two in the living room and two in the bedroom. Still, I was happy with the upgrade, especially since it was a last-minute reservation.

That deck was great for several family game nights, and the spot itself was really convenient. We stayed in treehouse #11 and loved the tiny-house setup, but it needs smarter use of space. The mattresses were awful, bad enough that even my son complained, though his own Amazon mattress was a decent one under $150. There’s only a mini fridge, even though a small layout adjustment could make room for a bigger one. Same with the trash: there’s space for a normal kitchen bin, but the tiny can meant constant trips to the dumpster. The huge TV in the primary took up the whole ledge, and we’d have preferred a smaller one so we could use that space. The small bathroom also needs more shelves and hooks on the back of the door. In a tiny house, storage matters, and little changes like those would go a long way.

We had a lovely couples getaway here last fall and would book again. The hosts were warm whenever we got in touch, and the rooms were clean with a comfortable bed. It’s an easy walk downtown, including to the little cupcake stand where we grabbed a late-night snack. There’s also a nice park across the street, and we spotted deer in nearby lots in the mornings and evenings. Since our unit didn’t have a kitchen, we brought a charcoal grill. I wish we’d packed plastic utensils and paper plates too, because we wound up washing dishes in the bathroom.

I come back every year for a week to rest and read, and I plan to keep returning as long as I can. Pat and her staff are wonderful. My cabin is spacious and has everything I need. It’s at the quiet end of town, but I can still walk into town and enjoy what’s there.
