Duling Kurtz House & Country Inn

We were thrilled to get a cozy room with a fireplace for our anniversary dinner, and the meal was just as fabulous as we remembered from years ago. The menu is hard to read at night without your phone flashlight, and dinner will cost at least $100 per person. My husband loved his Filet with Bearnaise and Bordelaise. I had the Wild-caught Scallops with shaved Brussel Sprouts, then a cold, crisp Wedge Salad. The Popovers (Yorkshire Pudding) with butter and Lemon Curd were delightful, too. There are almost too many desserts to choose from. We’ll be back soon!

This Thanksgiving didn’t live up to the meal we’d enjoyed here in 2018. Our family of seven was disappointed, especially since we’d come for the holiday. The service was a bit slow, and our table didn’t have a centerpiece. The turkey dinners were overpriced and just so-so, served piled in a bowl without any garnish instead of on a proper dinner plate. My grandson’s crab/lobster crêpes were two rather small crepes for $51. The popovers to start were noticeably smaller, maybe a third of their former size. It wasn’t what we’ve come to love about Duling Kurtz.

We brought the family for our usual Christmas Eve dinner and were really disappointed. The food was very good, but the service tonight was just bad.

We had six people for a little post-wedding celebration for my nephew and his new bride. I couldn’t make the actual wedding because I was ill, so it was lovely to get together. The Lena room, with its lit fireplace, felt cozy and private, and the service and food were amazing. Everyone enjoyed their choices. We had French onion soup, oysters rockerfellow, baked brie, shrimp cocktail, lobster crepes, pork weinerschnitzel, scallops, chocolate peanut butter lava cake, and chocolate mousse. The warm popovers with lemon curd and butter were delicious, too. I had beet salad with arugula, poached pear, candied walnuts, and apple cider vinegarette, followed by rack of lamb that was cooked just right and melted in my mouth. My fruit cobbler had strawberries, peaches, blueberries, and blackberries under a crunchy topping, with ice cream and a few fresh berries on the side. The bartender made fabulous cocktails.
