I’ve been here for five months, and the place has potential, but it feels neglected and shady. The room service or maids are immaculate, though I believe housekeeping is handled by a third party. At the front office, the staff have been rude and inattentive, and their demeanor makes it seem like they don’t care about tenants’ needs. I saw a mother and daughter get refused coffee and extra blankets because the front desk employees hadn’t prioritized it. It was 9 a.m., there was no line, and the employee shrugged and said, “I’m not making coffee.” Then they kept trying to charge me extra for my room, which is a separate issue. I’m still waiting on a $200 refund. I didn’t ask for cash back, just for it to be credited toward my room. Two employees, and I assume the manager, agreed I was being charged extra, but said they didn’t know who checked me in, their system wouldn’t allow the transaction, and the computer demanded payment. It’s like they’d put a bandage on a broken limb before calling anyone official. Good luck figuring out who the manager is, too. They communicate poorly and have no nametags. I expect this review will get a copy-and-paste response that dances around the issues. Update after the response: When is checkout again? Why was I charged for seven days but only got six days, twice? You said I came in late, but I came before checkout on New Year’s Day, a Thursday, and paid for one day because the banks were closed. The following morning, Friday, I paid for a week. It was $398, not $393, so I was charged extra there too. That next Thursday I was told to pay again, even after I explained the situation to two employees. They just shrugged and said, “the computer demands payment.” I paid for one day, then paid for another week the next morning, split into two payments. On the 15th, a Thursday, maintenance knocked on my door asking for payment. The same two front office employees were there, and I again explained why I was confused and frustrated. They said, “We weren’t the ones to check you in for Friday, computer says you need to pay. Nothing can be done.” I paid for a day and asked for a manager. When I came back the next morning, I assumed the older woman there was the manager. She was just as nonchalant about the extra payment and my confusion, didn’t try to sort it out, and told me to pay or check out. Still no nametag in sight. If this wasn’t negligence, then it was terrible communication at best. Who’s managing this place, and why haven’t they been told about this at all? A customer or tenant left the office confused and upset, and apparently you and two employees support those interactions through your actions.
Room 204 had a lot of little bugs, so I’m giving the rooms three stars. They moved us to another room quickly, and that one was really nice. I hope they get the bug issue in the first room fixed, because otherwise it was a really nice room.
The location is handy, right by the interstate and on the main shopping strip, with everything close and downtown not too far away. It’s an older hotel that’s been remodeled, and the staff are very friendly. There’s a gym, but stay away from the white pulley machine in particular. It’s rusty and bent, and someone could get hurt. They should throw it out.
The prices were very reasonable, and this was much better than a lot of hotels I’ve tried around here. The staff were friendly and really helpful. My room was a nice size and cozy, with a huge flat screen. I was very happy with my stay at Sweet Dreams. Thanks!
I don’t normally write reviews, but I’m so angry about this stay that I have to. We paid $112 for two nights. At 1:47 a.m. on the first night, we woke to yelling about drugs and “crackheads,” plus banging noises. Blacked out cars were parked outside with headlights shining into our room, and guys were standing by the stairs. I called the front desk five times with no answer, then called the police because we didn’t feel safe leaving our room. We were scared and had to find somewhere else to stay at 2 a.m. I went back to the hotel twice to talk to the manager about a refund, but she wasn’t there. Apparently no one noticed the police were there at 2 a.m. I showed the front desk attendant my call log and texts, and saw her text the manager about what happened. Then I went through booking.com. The manager told them I never complained, said that as far as she knew I was still staying there, and denied a refund. The room was gross too: stained sheets, weird lighting, and what looked like quick paintwork to hide how old and run-down everything was. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut, and the front door handle and lock were really loose. Sketchy place run by sketchy people. Never stay here. Sleep in your car. Also, give me my money back.
