Tru by Hilton Florence I-95

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself is good, though the rooms are starting to deteriorate. Being right off I-95 is convenient. I was asked for money by two different people within ten minutes while unloading my luggage, then again the next morning as I loaded up. That made me wonder if the area is safe, and management should consider security guards in the parking lot.

The hot water is very hot, and the shower pressure is great. The rooms are a typical size for a TRU hotel, clean, and undamaged. The lobby is neat and clean, and the customer service is awesome. Best hotel on exit 164, and my new favorite place to stay.

The blackout curtains work well, and the parking lot lighting helps me feel a little more secure. It's right off the 95, too. That's about all I can say in its favor. We've stayed at a few Tru hotels, and this one is looking weathered. One room smelled horrible and had no towels; the other looked dirty. I'm pretty sure there was mold on the one decent pillow, and when I asked for more, I was told no. The hair dryer was disgusting, and the gym felt so dirty that I doubt it had been cleaned since opening. We left feeling gross, and will have to find another chain for overnight stays.

I went in with low expectations after reading the reviews, but come on, it's right off 95, so don't expect luxury. It was quite clean, with a functional bathroom, blackout shades, and a nice firm bed. Dogs are allowed, too. The gym was a pleasant surprise, with exactly the equipment I needed.
