Days Inn By Wyndham Frankfort

The breakfast was just two kinds of cereal, which wasn't what we expected from a Days Inn by Wyndham. The room itself was adequate, but the grounds still looked like an old motel, even though the place has been renovated. The choices on the question asking how we'd describe the hotel didn't fit at all.

The room was decent enough to sleep in, though I think it should cost $20 less per night. With the discount, it came out around what I'd expect for this level of accommodation. I do wonder about mold because of the painted-over water damage on the ceiling and the bathroom floor bubbling up. The curtains wouldn't open, and the new shower stall had caulk instead of silicone. The room was clean and had no smell, the bed was adequate, and the sheets smelled of bleach without being overpowering. The heater worked, but struggled to warm the room and ran all night. I asked for a lower floor when I arrived, but was given a room upstairs. The attendant told me over the phone it was at the back, though there was no map and his directions were wrong. The hotel dead-ends, and with snow and ice in the lot, few property lights, and my full-size truck, it was hard to get out. The lot lights in my section were also out, so visibility was poor. Once upstairs, I found a door that wouldn't latch, trash on the nightstand, and toilet paper in the toilet. I was told maintenance could come, but at 8 pm in 6-degree weather I said I needed to be moved. They then gave me the lower room I'd originally requested. When I told someone who seemed to be a manager how disappointed I was, he kept blaming his employee in front of me. The lock and lighting are serious safety concerns. Breakfast the next morning was poor compared with the Days Inn where I'd stayed the month before. Trash was overflowing, there were no cereal spoons, very little food to choose from, and the coffee was bad. At checkout I said I should have been offered at least a 20% discount. The clerk said she had to call the manager, who turned out to be the same person from the night before. He processed it, but was rude and unprofessional about it. We got what we expected for the price, and it was fine for one night. Traffic from the nearby roadway and interstate was louder than we thought it would be. The room was clean and everything worked, though a cool draft came in under the door because it didn't seal at the bottom. At check-in, nobody was at the desk and there wasn't a way to let them know we were waiting.

The woman at the desk was sweet, but the property needs a lot of attention and the location wasn't good. Inside, some parts of the room had been updated and others hadn't. The room curtains and shower curtain were so disgusting I couldn't even touch them. The windows and the area outside our door were dirty too.
