Super 8 by Wyndham Franklin Hwy 31

We checked out in the middle of the night and won't return. We've stayed at this same Super 8 in March 2025 and June 2025 with no problems, but this visit was completely different. We arrived at 10:15 p.m. and were given keys for three rooms in turn. In the first, which I believe was room 114 on the ground floor, bugs above the door casing fell on me as we entered. Room 203 had a broken light switch and bugs behind the front curtain. The man at the desk asked if we'd been drinking, which we definitely had not. We offered to show him the bugs, but he refused. He did go to room 203 and saw them himself. He then took us to room 204. We saw no bugs, and believe me, we checked. But after we went out for food and came back, the AC didn't work, and neither did the TV or remote. The remote's batteries turned the TV on, but the screen said there was no signal. The beds were hard and the room was hot. The desk man showed no concern when we explained why we were leaving. My husband asked for a receipt, and he claimed he'd given us one at check-in, though he hadn't. He also printed it as if we stayed until 10:39 a.m. We left before 4:30 a.m. because it was too hot and uncomfortable. I don't know if ownership changed or if the different desk man simply doesn't care about the hotel or his job. The Wyndam brand doesn't seem to check on these hotels using its name and rewards program. We travel often, and I've accepted that you get what you pay for, but we'll choose IHG or Choice now. They're a bit more expensive, but the customer service and hotel quality are much better.
