Motel 6 Fremont, CA - North

Motel 6 North is close to my home, and I’ve lived here for more than 25 years. The property is excellent, with neat, well-kept units, professional service, and good housekeeping. The head of maintenance, whose name was something like timbol, looked into my room to check out my wife after I’d explained that she was inside breastfeeding. She felt violated, and the office didn’t seem concerned at all. I was already on the phone with corporate, but when I showed employees the picture I’d taken, not one would tell me his last name. You’d think having a potential sex offender on staff would raise an eyebrow.

I was on the first floor and the people above me kept dragging a chair across the floor. I had to work in the morning and lost sleep over the noise. After I complained several times, they still let it continue. Guests who keep making noise after repeated complaints should be made to leave.

Traveling with three people and five pets made finding a place difficult, since nearby pet-friendly hotels were expensive and often limited how many animals you could bring. Motel 6 was flexible, and I booked two rooms for our drive from Arizona to California before flying direct from SFO. We were trying to avoid the extra airport stress at PHX Sky Harbor because airports are hard on the pets. The rooms were clean, nicely set up, and the staff treated us respectfully. There were grassy spots for our dog, though we had to cross the parking lot to reach them. The main hassle was the beds: there was space underneath, and the cats found holes in the box springs and hid where we couldn’t reach them. We put the box spring, legs and all, against a wall and slept with the mattress on the floor. A bed frame that reached the floor would have avoided that problem.
