Best Western Byron Center

The hotel and staff were nice, but the owner was another matter. We came by for my niece’s birthday and went to the pool. The owner knocked on the door, then called us squatters and said there were too many people in one room. She also said the hotel doesn’t usually do birthday parties, as if it were only a business hotel. It felt like she hounded my family all night. One relative even offered to buy another room. We let the kids swim one more time and then went home because we didn’t feel comfortable staying.

The rooms have been updated, but the noise is awful. You hear all the commotion from other rooms, and it feels like they forgot insulation in the walls. Sound echoes a lot, and some people don’t seem to care about keeping it down.

The bed was decent and at least the water ran hot, but I won’t be back, and I won’t stay at another Best Western. I’ll stick with IHG hotels from now on. At check-in they gave me the wrong room. The employee didn’t know what rooms were available or how they were laid out, and said I’d probably booked under the old description from before the previous ownership. The hot tub, the main reason I booked, was out of order. Someone also vacuumed the whole hallway at 9pm. At checkout I asked for a refund. The employee said she’d ask the manager when they arrived, but I got only $10 off a $250 bill, even though the price difference between what I booked and what I got was $40. Terrible. My money would be better spent anywhere else.

I was told the hotel had been fully renovated in June of 2025. It felt modern and very clean, and this was one of the cleanest hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. The front desk staff were friendly too.
