The room was clean and just what I expected, and the gym was tidy with enough equipment to get a workout in. I was here for a work trip, and the quick stay was convenient. Chloe was soooo sweet and helpful, a joy to deal with at check-in. Shawn was a delight too. Two of the most pleasant workers I’ve encountered. 5/5 for a quick weekend in a convenient place with such welcoming, attentive staff.

The breakfast area wasn’t kept up, and the tables weren’t cleaned. You have to get there right at the beginning for a chance of finding it clean. Room details didn’t help either: the toilet flusher was on the wrong side of the tank, refrigerator doors in every other room opened the wrong way and got in the way of the hall door, and in king rooms one side of the bed was too close to the heater/air conditioner. We stayed at Home2 Suites by Hilton Grand Rapids Airport seven times, but won’t return. We joined Hilton Honors this year because we need a hotel one or more times a week. Even with Silver status, they never offered water on arrival, and each time we had to wait for someone to appear at the desk. We asked for early check-in just once, an hour early, and were charged $10. We paid because it made more sense than losing the $175 room cost, but there are plenty of hotels in the area. We won’t stay here again.

The suite had a nice layout, and the bathroom and shower worked well for handicapped access. The shower water was so good and warm. Breakfast looked and smelled great. I didn’t try the pool or gym, but both looked clean and nice.

Kids were running and screaming above me nonstop, including at 2am on a weekday, and it cost me several nights of sleep. I’m furious with this place. The parents seemed oblivious and showed no respect, and the front desk didn’t seem able to get the noise under control. I wish I could call the police at this point. Put in a quiet-time policy and start charging loud-noise fees, I bet that’ll reduce it. People pay a lot for business travel. Do we really need to be awake at 2am when we have to get up at 4am for work? Never again would I let my company put employees here on a business trip. People need to control their mannish kids. I’m due back in Michigan next week, and I’ll stick to the Marriot.
