Hampton Inn Greenville

After more than 14 hours of traveling and working, I got to the hotel only to have my room canceled 20 minutes before check-in. I’d booked it three weeks earlier and had already checked in online, but nobody notified me. As a Diamond member, I was left stranded and told there was nowhere else nearby. I find that treatment disgusting, and I can’t believe the manager is allowed to treat guests this way. I’ve asked my company to move our team elsewhere. We’ll stay in another area while we work here over the next year.

The lobby has had a nice facelift, but the rest of the property feels like it’s gone downhill. I’ve stayed here for years, and this was the roughest visit. My room carpet hadn’t been vacuumed, the working elevator had a dried spill and dirt in the corners, and the front doors were broken. Each day I had to get new keys because the system kept deactivating them, a problem I’ve noticed over the past four months. Breakfast is the same bland hotel spread: foodservice omelets, sausage, biscuits and gravy. I eat it because it fills me up. The pool is outdoors but covered and unusable. In the bathroom, linen replacement should leave two of each towel type, but I found one towel, three washcloths, one hand towel, and no bathmat. For one of Greenville’s most expensive hotels, there are better choices. When the staff don’t seem to care about the place, it shows everywhere.

The room was clean, and I got a cheerful welcome when I arrived. It’s easy to find and handy for stores and gas stations. I’d stay here again.

A decent place to stop for the night, nothing beyond that. The people at the front desk at night were welcoming, but the toilet water was yellow and everything felt like it had a film on it. Nothing memorable.
