We were there for a week with our other half and 6-month-old twins. The room looked clean at first, and we didn’t find bugs when we checked in, but blood was on the sheets when we were getting ready for bed. By the third day cockroaches had appeared, and they kept multiplying until they were everywhere. We stopped wanting food in the room. There was never hot water, and the heater ran constantly. Daylight came through all around the door and the heater/AC, and since the door didn’t close or lock properly, we had to block it so nobody could get in. Other guests were loud late at night, playing music and talking outside our door, which woke us and the babies. Trash sat outside rooms for days, with nowhere for guests to throw it away. I never saw the staff because they stayed inside. The TV had no channel guide, and the advertised Wi-Fi kept disconnecting. When it did work, pages took about 30 minutes to load. I wouldn’t recommend this motel.

We drove ten hours for a dirt car race, stayed awake all day for it, and badly needed sleep. The room’s smell was so awful, a mix of stale cigarettes, urine, and body odor, that I sprayed deodorizer over everything, including the walls, beds, floor, TV, old window AC, and bathroom. I fell asleep right away, but woke later to use the bathroom and the stink was back. I went out to my car and slept there instead. We’d brought our own sheets and pillows and put them over the bed, whose comforter looked like it dated from the motel’s opening in the 1950s. The supposed bath towels were kitchen hand towels, and the washcloths looked like they’d been used to clean something. Those were the room’s few good points, if you can call them that.

We booked at the last minute, but once we arrived there was nobody at the desk for a while. The room smelled bad, the fridge leaked, the bathroom was dirty, and the door didn’t lock securely. There wasn’t any toilet paper. This place needs work inside and out.

The staff were friendly enough, but that didn’t make up for how run-down and dirty the place was. There are three buildings, all unappealing, and we ended up in a tiny room behind the office that felt like a converted broom closet. I couldn’t make myself use the shower during the three days I had to stay there. I also didn’t feel safe going out after dark. The drug trade seemed very real, and the other people staying there looked about as expected from the street view. Wi-Fi barely worked and was painfully slow; cable was out for about five hours, and the remote batteries were dead anyway. Sleeping in my car on a muggy summer night would’ve been better.
