For a week on the ground floor near the lobby, we hardly heard other guests. The room had a comfortable queen bed, a good-sized TV with lots of channels, and a desk and chair for getting work done. As you enter, there’s a small kitchenette with a full-size fridge, two-burner stove, microwave, and plenty of counter space. The bathroom is off to the left. The room and property were clean; I could smell that even before stepping into the lobby when we stopped by to look around. The staff were very nice and let us see a room. I booked and prepaid online, then check-in only required my ID and a credit card for the $100 deposit. Coming and going was easy, with the hotel right off I-84 for access to the metro area. There are places to eat nearby, and Albertsons is two lights south on the main road. If you plan to cook, bring pots, pans, plates, utensils, and a can opener.

The bathroom had the most problems: yellow stains on the ceiling, which dripped after a shower unless the door stayed open, a cracked sink, stains on the counter, and a door latch that was broken so it wouldn’t close. The mirror had fallen off the wall and was left on the dresser, and the carpet was sticky. I had to fix the toilet because it wouldn’t refill after flushing. There was a strange smell, too. On the plus side, the bed, sheets, blankets, and pillows were clean and comfortable, the heat worked well, and the water was hot. The shower was okay, and the Wi-Fi was super fast. The refrigerator and microwave worked, and the parking lot was nice to have. I didn’t try the AC.

The bed was comfortable and seemed clean, and the staff were really nice and helpful. The rooms were a little unclean, which isn’t unusual, and I didn’t care for the paint colors. For what it cost, it wasn’t horrible, but fresh paint and carpet would help, along with cleaning the doors, walls, and light switches.

If all you need is a bed and a shower, this place does the job. But there were a lot of sketchy people hanging around the parking lot, and going back outside after checking in felt scary. Even a quick trip to the store or stepping out for a smoke felt like a journey through Babylon just to get between the lot and hotel. The price matches the amenities, or lack of bells and whistles.

I booked a week, but after what we found I’d stay somewhere else. The first room had dirty floors, pillows tossed on the bed, a broken TV facing backward, and nightstand drawers hanging halfway out, so we were moved. In the new room, there was blood on the top blanket when I unfolded it, as if it had been folded over to cover the stain. The counters were dirty and the bathroom light didn’t work. The hall smelled like trash because the trash room was overflowing. People were slumped in the halls and outside, and someone asked my fiancé if he had drugs while we were smoking outside. I didn’t feel safe walking the hall alone with people standing there. The kitchenette had no dishes or coffee pot, and lights didn’t work. They won’t refund the week, so lesson learned: investigate better, and you get what you pay for.
