Motel 6 Grove City, OH

I’m currently homeless, and we’ve been staying off and on at the Motel 6 in Grove City, Ohio. Other people there have been able to stay for extended periods, but management won’t work with us, even though I’m willing to pay weekly or monthly. They don’t offer weekly or monthly rates. I also paid for an extension on Thursday for a Friday morning checkout, putting $70 on my card and the rest in cash, but now they aren’t honoring the payment.

It was a quiet, safe location within walking distance of fast food places and gas stations. The hotel offers “room service,” but the food uses canned mushrooms, which I find disgusting. There weren’t many vegetarian choices and no vegan ones. The room was okay and the floor was clean, but the bathroom was tiny and looked poorly cleaned. They’d only wiped the toilet and scrubbed the tub part of the tub. The sink barely drained, which was gross. One bed’s sheets had blood stains, and the blanket had cigarette holes, so we didn’t use them.

The rooms are clean and well kept, and the staff are polite and efficient. There were some ‘interesting’ characters around, to say the least, but I guess that’s part of affordable temporary housing.

I’ve stayed here several times over the past six months. There are plenty of businesses within walking distance and the location is great, though Stringtown Road is rough during peak traffic. The staff are friendly and the customer service is excellent.
