For the price, it was honestly a nice stay with my family over the weekend for a Columbus zoo trip. The room was good, the elevator worked, breakfast was good, and we enjoyed the indoor pool next door. Restaurants and other fun things weren’t far away. Was it some supreme, spotless five-star hotel? No, but it didn’t cost like one either. I don’t know what everyone else here is talking about.

The two staff members who helped me are the only reason this gets two stars; my real rating is one. I booked four nights for work and arrived after hours, tired from the road, only to find the door wouldn’t open because its battery was dead. It took five dead doors before I finally got into my room. For the next three nights, I still had trouble getting in. On the last night, after a 14-and-a-half-hour workday, the door wouldn’t even light up. I waited ten minutes before getting inside at 11 pm. Having doors fail every day cost me even more sleep. The bed was stiff and the pillows were basically nonexistent. You get what you pay for, but at this quality they should charge $40 a night. Spend the extra $20-50 a night for a Hilton or Marriott.

I was in the Columbus, Ohio area for work and was put up at the Comfort Inn in Grove City, Ohio. It was the worst work trip I’ve had. On Monday around 7:30 pm, after arriving, I was told I’d need to wait another 15-20 minutes because the host was still getting my room ready. Within five minutes of finally checking in, she knocked and came in with a CAN OF RAID to spray the walls. There was renovation work on every level. The stained, dirty bedding and tape holding brand-new furniture together were bad enough, and my key card was deactivated daily. Each time I went to the desk, I explained I wasn’t checking out until the stated date and needed a card that would stay active. They said they were doing that, but it never worked. On the second night, there were lots of police in the parking lot and around the hotel, checking vehicles one by one. When I asked an officer what was going on, he said kids in the neighborhood directly behind the hotel had been breaking guests’ car windows with spark plugs. That made sense as a reason to be there, but not why they were carefully searching the contents of everyone’s vehicles. Looking for broken windows is one thing, searching for something specific is another. It gave me the impression the crowd this hotel attracts isn’t the best. Addicts were hanging around the building at all hours on several occasions. The last straw was being woken up on my day off, a Saturday, by drilling and hammering in the room next door at 7 am. I know renovations are sometimes needed, but paying guests shouldn’t be placed in the middle of that work. A coworker logged on to the hotel WiFi and his computer was immediately hacked. Fraudulent charges on his bank card appeared in under five minutes. The whole stay was aggravating and upsetting.

The pool was closed and the hotel was under construction, neither of which we were told when booking online. When we got to the room, it hadn’t been cleaned. One sheet had a muddy footprint, and the second bed had hair, snot, and what looked like pee. The sofa bed was broken, so my adult son slept on pillows on the floor. We arrived late because we needed to go straight to bed before getting up at 4 am for my son’s surgery. We didn’t want to make a fuss and switch rooms, but we did tell the young woman at the front desk. She said that since we booked through a third party, we’d need to contact them. The third party said we’d paid for a nonrefundable room and should choose a refundable one next time. Fine, they don’t want to return the money. But they could at least offer a free future stay and make sure the rooms are clean. I don’t recommend staying here until later in 2026. I hope they get the hotel and staff together by then.

The bathroom floor had a pile of dirt on it, and the shower was filthy. The TV guide didn’t work, and in the morning I couldn’t make coffee because the part the grounds go in was missing from the coffee maker. Breakfast was just so-so, and the downstairs coffee had no flavor. Horrible place to stay.
