The location was so quiet, and the beds were comfortable. We had a great view of the water from our room, and there was a TV and mini fridge for us modern travelers. It’s a historic property, so set your expectations accordingly. The bathroom was small but adequate. We got off the Alaska Marine Hwy System ferry around midday and drove over to the hotel where we had reservations. Jeff greeted us with maps and suggestions for things to see. Thanks, Jeff, those ideas were awesome! We were me and Trophy Husband. A tip: bring a power strip if you have several devices to charge. It saved us from having to use the bathroom outlet.

I didn’t stay at the Hotel Halsingland, but I rented a car from this very nice hotel. I rented from them last year too. Jeff is in charge and is exactly the person you’d want to rent a car from. Thanks, Jeff. If I needed a place to stay, Hotel Halsingland would be my choice.
The rooms are simple and comfortable, with great views, and it’s a lovely historic hotel. What made it special was Jeff, the owner. He was attentive and available, helped us with local information, and even had extra bear spray in the back. I’ll stay here again.
From making the reservation through the end of our stay, the front desk was welcoming and helpful. It felt like being at a lovely parent’s house, with someone making sure you had what you needed to be comfortable. I loved the classic design, structure, and layout. The room was huge, with a big shower and a separate room for the kids. Great location and a beautiful view.
What a great find. The photo shows room #4, which is such a quaint space. I believe the building was the General’s quarters. The proprietor checked us in and was charming, with plenty of information and advice. His best tips were about bear viewings and the spectacular drive to Whitehorse. Our room was warm, clean, and comfortable, with outstanding views.
