Blue Jay Motel

We parked the car the first night and didn't need it again until checkout because everything was within walking distance. The room was a great deal, with comfortable beds, three pillows each, and a small kitchen with a mini fridge, microwave, and a few other appliances. The pool was nice too. There weren't loungers to stretch out on, so I just put my towel on the deck. I'd book again.

For a simple, budget-friendly place near the strip and beach, this worked fine. The room was clean, the beds and pillows comfortable, and the pool was clean too. Check-in and checkout were both pleasant, with a very nice woman. Don't expect high-end, but I recommend it if you want something basic in this location.

The desk clerk was kind at both check-in and checkout, and I heard her try to help a caller who wanted to shorten a reservation by a day. She offered an earlier check-in so the guest wouldn't lose the day and money, but said there was no other option if that didn't work. They seem firm about refunds. In room 207, the AC was loud and leaking, leaving the carpet wet under it. The room had just been cleaned and smelled of bleach, perhaps covering the unit's odor. There were no window screens. I told staff at checkout, and she seemed to know about the issue but said they were busy and hadn't fixed it yet. I urged her to address it immediately because of possible mold growth and because the room didn't seem safe to keep renting.

Room 212's door could be pushed open from outside even when it looked locked. There was a bolt on the inside, but we didn't feel safe, so we wedged a chair against it while we slept. It was too late to switch rooms. The place is in a great location and is fine if all you need is a room, though the whole property badly needs updating.
