Extended Stay America Suites Portland Hillsboro

We planned four nights but stayed only the first one. The hotel has seen better days, and our room was filthy and smelled of mold and old smoke. The bathroom door wouldn't close, the toilet wouldn't flush, and there were cigarette burns on the furniture. Stains were everywhere, on the walls, ceiling, sheets, and floors. There was also a lot of yelling through the night. I cancelled the rest of the stay as soon as I got up the next morning.

The rooms here are bigger than at many budget hotels, and a couple of employees have been genuinely solid. The maintenance man and Christina have always been friendly and helpful, and really deserve raises. My experience changed when my stay became tax-free. I asked about my back taxes, and the manager said they couldn't pay them because I'd booked stays through the ESA website. Each time I extended, the morning front desk staff would leave off my dog and tell me I wouldn't be charged. Then suddenly they wanted $270 for pet fees they had forgotten to add after saying I wouldn't be charged. This is my second extended-stay property in the Portland area. At the first one, they would 'forget' to add the pet fee, then come asking for the money weeks later.

The pillows were flat and uncomfortable, toilet paper ran out, and I guess you have to buy your own. There are ants in the kitchen. I've asked nicely three times for a maid to check my room, but it never happens. They allow dogs, and I hear barking every day and night. Do not stay here, this place is a dump!

The kitchen with its stove, microwave, and refrigerator made it easy to cook meals, and the on-site laundry was useful for a longer stay. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, and the location was handy for restaurants, shops, and public transportation. My room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. Staff were professional and helpful, always greeting me with a smile and making sure I had what I needed. The place felt quiet and safe, so I could rest well every night. Extended Stay America felt like a home away from home. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable, convenient place for an extended visit.
