Hotel ZaZa Houston Memorial City

EDIT: I’ve changed this from five stars after driving in from Austin on Monday to celebrate our anniversary. I’d clearly put the occasion in the room notes. I’m a ZIP Headliner / Rockstar, which the front desk had told me on an earlier visit was the highest ZAZA membership status, but since getting it I’ve seen no benefits beyond the title. They made no anniversary arrangements at all: no flowers, wine, champagne, chocolates, nothing. I felt foolish in front of my girlfriend. She was gracious about it, but I was embarrassed that ZAZA did nothing. I don’t know what they usually arrange for special occasions, but surely it’s more than nothing. I also pointed out the notes to the person checking me in, who acknowledged them and said she’d arrange something. I hope ZAZA steps up and does the right thing. On previous staycations, I’ve come to swim, enjoy the bar and restaurant, and the hotel has never disappointed. This time they upgraded my room to a superb, stunning suite. Everyone from the valet staff to the bartenders has been excellent. Thank you, zaza!

Stay: 23-24 / OCT 2025 We’ve stayed at Hotel ZaZa many times over the years, during long power outages and home renovations. They’ve always been accommodating to our family and pets, and we’ve valued that hospitality. This visit to the Memorial location was a letdown. My wife tried to check in for a prepaid reservation under her name, but the manager refused because she only had Apple Pay for incidentals. It clearly showed her name when opened, and she had a valid DL. We contacted the third-party booking agent to ask for a refund, but were told the manager wouldn’t approve it, citing the policy that requires a “valid credit card” on file. I called the Museum District ZaZa directly to check, and they said Apple Pay is accepted for incidentals. My wife went back to Memorial to explain and ask them to reconsider. She waited over 30 minutes before the same manager reluctantly let her check in. Her room was right next to the elevator, which seemed spiteful, and he refused her request to change rooms. A routine check-in became a stressful, drawn-out ordeal, nothing like our previous excellent stays at Hotel ZaZa. I wouldn’t let this manager run a subway franchise in an abandoned strip mall. I hope upper management checks what happened and takes the steps needed to keep this from happening to anyone else.

We held an event at Hotel ZaZa, and the team made the whole thing fantastic for us and our clients. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and served right on time. They handled every detail with care and professionalism, making it a five-star experience from start to finish. I’d highly recommend Hotel ZaZa for a corporate event or special occasion. They’ll exceed your expectations!

The room was spotless and nicely decorated, and the food and service were both excellent. Valet is the only parking choice and it can get expensive. I-10 traffic can be hectic.
