Rodeway Inn & Suites Highway 290 Northwest

The staff were professional and attentive, and the fresh breakfast was good, especially the waffles. I needed a place near downtown with access to the surrounding areas for a week while my apartment was being readied. This spot is conveniently close to 290 without being in a high-traffic zone. My room seemed newly updated, with granite finishes, LED bathroom lights, and modern wood flooring. It smelled nice and was very clean. The bed was super comfortable, and soap and a hair dryer were provided. I liked having two desks and lots of outlets with USB slots for working. I’d gladly stay again and recommend it.

After calling a month later, I finally got my $50 back. The room was clean and comfortable, and the night was peaceful and restful. This is a bare-bones hotel, but it had a light breakfast and decent coffee. It’s on a nearby side street, not directly on the access road. The neighborhood felt a bit sketchy, with a few characters wandering around. I’d used rewards points for my one-night stay and left the room in order, but was still charged a $50 security deposit that hadn’t been returned by November 25, after the November 6 stay. At first, I said I’d review once the money came back and felt it was shady. I wouldn’t pay that deposit unless you’re ready to chase it.

The bed was good, and the coffee was good too, though breakfast was lackluster. It worked fine as a basic place to spend the night. I kept hitting my head on the shower curtain rod because it was coming off the wall, and I wish the doors blocked the streetlight better. Still, it did the trick.

I’ve been here for a couple of weeks and it’s the best option in the area for the price. The rooms are clean and updated, it’s quiet, there’s no deposit, and the owners and management are nice. Breakfast is simple but good, and I love the waffles. The washer and dryer have been out of order for my whole stay, but there’s a brand new washateria across the street. You can’t get all this anywhere else in Houston for the price.
