Its location near major roads, restaurants, and shops made getting around easy. For the price, the rooms were clean and comfortable, with basic amenities, and the staff were welcoming and helpful at check-in. Free parking, Wi-Fi, and breakfast were included, which worked well for a budget stay, whether for a family visit, business trip, or just overnight.

The room was so dirty that I couldn't imagine sleeping or eating there. The bathroom floor was filthy, there was urine all over the toilet seat, and a foul smell kept coming back even after I flushed about seven or eight times and left the door open for fresh air. The room hadn't been cleaned. I gathered my things and went to the outside window, where I waited around 10 minutes after ringing several times. The man eventually told me I could leave, gesturing with his mouth and hand as if he wanted me off the property. I had to wait 15 to 20 minutes for my ride, and he had already said there were no other rooms. I was a Black woman, and kept wondering whether the treatment was because of my skin color or because I'd booked a free room with points. I won't return to the Brookhollow location at 5655 West 34th Street, 77092 in Houston. The room was nasty, and complaining meant being told to leave. It was late and a total inconvenience, but he didn't care. I ended up booking at Days Inn hotel and suites with Wyndham in Katy TX, a 40 to 45 minute drive away. That was worth it: I booked a regular room, but Seniors manager AJ upgraded me to a Suite. It was nice and quiet, the rooms were clean, and they served a great breakfast. At check-in, I asked for a blanket, an extra sheet, and two pillowcases, as I do at every hotel because linens aren't always freshly changed. The woman who checked me in was very nice, said there was no need, and didn't give me any. Once in the room, I first thought the floor looked dirty, then checked the bedding. The blanket had cigarette burns and long black hairs on it. I also noticed a foul smell, especially in the bathroom. I went back out to get another blanket, explaining the problem at the glass check-in window. The man said, “I'm going to do this one change for you and if you have anymore complaint, you have to leave and I will give you your money back”. He was very upset. I explained that I had booked a free room with my Whyd pts, and he said he would return my points. I asked why he was so upset and said I was only trying to change the blanket. He didn't answer. I mentioned the bathroom smell and said I'd keep flushing to see if it went away. He sent me to another door and gave me a folded blanket, asking me to inspect it before leaving. I said I'd check it in the room so it wouldn't touch the ground. I told him I'd check out if there were more problems; he said there were no other rooms available that night. Back in the room, I found even more hair on that blanket, plus stains and other marks. I had been exhausted and only wanted to eat something and lie down. When I first arrived, I hadn't had my glasses on, so I hadn't seen everything clearly. I left the room for about half an hour to 45 minutes to get food after opening the door for fresh air for around 10 minutes. When I returned, the smell seemed even worse.

Both of the two rooms we booked were missing lamps, hair dryers, and other things. We were told there should have been a placard in the rooms telling us to call the office for missing items. Renovations were underway and the rooms looked very nice, but the breakfast area was closed and full of paint and construction supplies. The pool could use some cleaning, too. Guests had their doors open while smoking marijuana, which smelled like skunk weed.

There are plenty of places to eat and shop nearby, including a Habachi Seafood Buffet next door, gas stations, an Academy, Denny's, Chicken Fil-A, Shipley's, and Dutch Bros Coffee. The hotel itself was in great shape: clean, orderly rooms that looked new, with no bugs, stains, bad smells, damage, dirt, or grime. My corner room above the office had two windows and felt cozy, even though this isn't a Marriott. The freeway is close enough to see in the distance, but I couldn't hear traffic, and the room seemed well insulated. The AC looked new and worked perfectly, the mini fridge was good, and the bed was clean. Bright white lighting gave the room a clear look rather than a yellow cast. The smoke alarms worked, the bathroom had nice marble-looking walls, and there was an ice machine downstairs. You can order drinks online from the office using a QR code and pick them up. The pool was clean, with a clear bluish tint. Some shady people occasionally walk around or get rooms in the area. The owners act quickly to remove anyone causing trouble or unacceptable behavior, and they don't allow random visitors to disturb guests or engage in inappropriate activity. That keeps the place from turning into a hangout or hookup spot. The doors are sturdy, with good locks and a thick metal flip latch as a second lock, not a chain latch. It helps keep the door from opening all the way if a housekeeper or manager were to come in unexpectedly. The workers are respectful as long as guests respect the property and use some manners. For the price, this is a great hotel. I'd definitely recommend it.

Kevin, the manager, was awesome, and as a single woman I felt safe the whole month I stayed here while waiting for my apartment to be ready. It's in a convenient spot with everything you need close by, including a DUTCH BROS just two minutes away. I really enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it.
