Scottish Inn & Suites - IAH Airport

The road was fairly noisy, but I ran the AC fan for white noise and slept great. The room was large, clean, and recently updated, including the bathroom tile and paint. The desk staff were friendly, and Leo was especially helpful. It's a decent, efficient, no-frills motel near the airport that felt safe and clean. We left before breakfast was served. The shuttle makes stops at several smaller hotels and took a long time to get us from the airport, so we scheduled an Uber back to make sure we reached the airport on time for our early flight.

The front desk staff were friendly, but that's the only good thing I can say about the place. Our room was unacceptable, and with our tight schedule I didn't have time to discuss it with the staff. The floor was sticky, the bathroom floor was already wet when we walked in, and although our booking clearly listed three guests, there were only two towels. There was a moldy smell, one toilet-seat fastener was broken, and there was no soap tray. Lighting was just one bright white ceiling light between the beds, with no dimmer, only on or off. Getting in and out is hard too, because the entrance path is narrow, especially when turning left onto the main road.

The shuttle caused most of the trouble. At the airport, two shuttles wouldn't take me because this hotel wasn't on their route, and I was moved between shuttles twice because the drivers preferred passengers going to other hotels. When one driver finally took me, she spent about 30 minutes talking to other drivers and creating drama instead of getting moving. The hotel description also doesn't say the shuttle is shared with other hotels, comes only once an hour for hotel pickups, and has limited seats. Large groups may not fit together, and if the shuttle you want is full, you need to reserve one hour earlier. I had to book 6 AM instead of 7 AM. That's a frustrating setup for an airport hotel where many guests are dealing with long layovers. The hotel itself was clean, modern, and comfortable. The AC was very noisy and could use a check, but otherwise the room was fine.

The room was clean, though the lighting felt cold. Road noise meant we had to turn up the HVAC to drown it out, and the parking lot lights shone into the room like spotlights. Even with the curtains closed, there was a bright glow. The advertised airport shuttle is shared with several hotels and doesn't keep a schedule. We waited well over an hour, then spent another 20 minutes riding around to random stops.
