Studio 6 Irving, TX – DFW North

The lobby was full of people when we arrived, and they had let people book rooms that weren’t available. We were offered an “older” room, but it was full of live cockroaches on the walls and dead ones all over the floor. They also tried to charge us extra for it, calling it an “upgrade.” Disgusting place and unethical practices. DO NOT STAY HERE!

After a 14-hour flight, I was sleep deprived and hungry, and arrived to find no reservation at all. Booking.com had booked this place for me as Oyo and never told me ownership had changed. The guys at the counter basically laughed at me, even though I apologized for being frustrated and said my frustration wasn’t with them despite how they were handling things. Booking.com customer service hung up on me three times, so I gave up and took an Uber to the Oyo South, which was a much better location. There’s literally nothing to eat around here, and in the roughly 30 minutes I was here I saw more drug activity than people say happens at Oyo South. If all you need is a cheap place to land and rest, this might do, but if you’re hungry or want services closer than a vending machine, I’d choose Oyo South. I’ve used Booking.com five times without serious issues, though I’ve had some problems. Their vetting isn’t great and their customer service is terrible. They don’t care about you.

I saw about three roaches within 5 to 10 minutes of arriving, and I think one may have been pregnant. There was no hot water, the refrigerator and microwave didn’t work even when plugged in, and there was no remote in the room. I assume it’s broken or stolen, so I couldn’t even tell if the TV worked or watch the news. I also saw a dude pissing outside the building as I walked to my room. What kind of establishment is that, especially if they supposedly have cameras? Management needs to do better. The bed was decent enough to lie down on, but I’m still skeptical about it. The walls had Doodoo stains. Maybe other rooms are different, but this one was full of red flags, and luckily I only booked one night. I wouldn’t book another. Room: 0. Service: somewhat rude. Location: could be better.

The smoke smell was disgusting, the floors were dirty, the old doors and doorknob looked bad, and the bathtubs were nasty. There was no soap in the bathroom and no utensils in the kitchen, though every Studio 6 I’ve stayed at has had them. The towels didn’t seem clean either. I stayed exactly five hours, but the experience is still haunting me. The only reason I didn’t leave was that it was 2 in the morning. They need to clean more.
