Magnolia Hotel

We spent four days at the Magnolia Hotel, right in downtown Jacksonville, OR, with the main street easy to explore on foot. The cozy shared spaces were inviting, whether you wanted to browse a good book or have a warm drink with other travelers. There was a great selection of hot beverages available anytime. Little practical touches made the stay easier, like a bathroom table for toiletry bags, luggage carts to keep bags off the floor, and a portable heater and cooling unit in the room so we could control the temperature. The mattress was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and spacious. The hotel's gorgeous, thoughtful look made the whole place feel like a calming home away from home. We'll stay here again when we return to Southern Oregon.

The library with its books, music, and fireplace is where I most like to settle in and enjoy the quiet. The candles and soaps from Ashland give the place that spa-like feel I always wish I could take home. Staying here feels like enjoying a Swedish Slow experience in Jacksonville, Ore., and it’s one of my happy places away from home. My one request is a standard noon checkout. There’s a lot to do in town in the morning, from bakeries and coffee shops to breakfast spots, and getting a group packed and out by 11 is tough. Most boutique hotels seem to understand that; the earlier checkout is more typical of corporate-style places.

You can walk from the cozy, welcoming Magnolia Inn to restaurants, shops, a fun wine bar, and the Britt. It’s in a great spot in Jacksonville, and the room was comfortable with all the amenities. A really inviting place to stay.

The staff were lovely, and breakfast was tasty. The rooms were comfortable and nicely designed, too. It was a perfect base for exploring the lovely towns of Jacksonville and Ashland, and I’d definitely come back.
