Gladstone Inn & Suites

I spent five days here and would recommend it to anyone. The location is ideal, and my room was quiet, clean, and had everything working. Plenty of towels, too.

We were in town for an event in one of the event rooms and stayed here rather than look for somewhere else later in the evening. The restaurant food was awesome, though the cook was also the waiter, and they don't have Pepsi, so I got an Arnold Palmer. The room was okay, and I've definitely seen worse. The fridge worked, there was a little safe, and there were extra pumps in the drawers, at least. The beds weren't as bad as some reviews said, but they creaked like a haunted house floor. It was so loud that moving or getting up at night woke anyone else in the room. The pool was closed and empty and needs fixing. The TV was awful, though there were lots of channels, and I didn't see a guide. The picture was so fuzzy I couldn't tell what period the hockey game was in. The coffee pot was a joke and didn't work, and it was mounted too high for her to reach to fill. Better to grab coffee at the front desk. For the price, I expected more than a roadside motel.

The room was clean and well kept, and the front desk staff were helpful and very nice while they were there. But they left at 11 p.m., and it felt strange for a public venue to have no staff on site and no number for hotel guests to call if they needed help. After the desk closed, the bar turned into a nightclub with loud music, and patrons shouted inside and outside until closing. We understood there wasn't much we could do about that. But the room next to ours played its own music loudly for over an hour after midnight. We asked them to turn it down and got no response, and that's when we would have liked help from management. The pool was closed, with no notice when we booked by phone. We also weren't warned about the bar noise at check-in. We understand we had one of the last rooms available, but a heads-up would have let us prepare. Hotel management should take better care of its guests, and either improve the bar's soundproofing or keep its patrons under control.

If your room is near the bar, good luck getting sleep. The music is louder in the hallway than inside the bar and goes on until 2 a.m. The rooms are really dated, and we won't be back.
