After a very strenuous week, we just wanted a clean, quiet room for a night while traveling from Michigan to deal with serious family matters. We booked because a king bed was listed, but the bed was a queen and we were charged the king rate. We’d passed up a much cheaper hotel with a queen, so that felt like false advertising. There was constant noise from the room above us. The room phone didn’t work, so we had to use our own phones to call the desk, which felt unsafe in case of an emergency, or walk up to complain. We raised the noise issue several times. The friendly desk clerk tried to help and offered us another supposed king on the ground floor, but that room smelled of smoke, and its queen mattress sat on a frame that was much too big. My partner has asthma, so a smoking room wasn't acceptable. There was no bath plug either, so we had no choice but to return to the noisy room. The bathroom there was filthy: hair in the tub, feces on the outside of the toilet, and hair behind the toilet and on the wall. I have long dark hair, but this hair was short and lighter. The window shade was broken, though we fixed it for privacy. None of the ice machines worked, and my partner is handicapped, so that meant unnecessary trips. It took nearly four hours of chaos to get settled, and the noise from the family above us continued. The children were apparently training for a triathlon, and the family was inconsiderate. They were spoken to, but nothing changed. We have another night scheduled, but can’t deal with these problems again. I expected better than the Motel 6 we stayed at the night before, and was so wrong. I have videos and pictures to send to corporate, and expect compensation. I could have saved money and stress by choosing the other place with the queen bed.
We were charged $95 per room per night for conditions that were disgusting. My father was dying in the hospital, so we felt stuck for the first night. We had two rooms and had requested the main floor because of my mother. We were told there were no main-floor rooms with two double beds, and there was no elevator, so they put us upstairs on the second floor. When my husband found that his heater didn’t work, the clerk moved him to a first-floor room with two double beds. The clerk then said that was why we’d been put upstairs, despite saying earlier that no such rooms were available on the first floor. My mother’s bathtub ran all night, and her toilet didn’t work. The tubs were stained black, as was the grout around the toilets. The hotel’s flag out front was torn to shreds. I mentioned all this at checkout and was told someone would call, but nobody did. I can’t believe Wyndham accepts these conditions at one of its hotels. I’m appalled by both the property and how we were treated after making a reservation with specific health-related requests that they refused to honor.
Carlita was a warm, welcoming, and informative front-of-house host. She explained where everything was and brought me extra towels before I even asked. I use a hotel once a month, and this peaceful stay was better than the five-star Hilton I paid $500 for last week. Thank you, Carlita!
For $77 a night, the price was reasonable, and the breakfast was good. There are several restaurants within walking distance, and the parking lot is large and well lit. The hotel has several two-story buildings; I didn’t see an elevator. There’s an outdoor pool, vending, on-site laundry, ice machines, and complimentary breakfast. I also like the charging ports in the lamps, a nice touch. My room wasn’t comfortable. The shade was broken, there was hair residue in the tub, and the bin had trash in it. None were deal breakers, just annoying. I was also bothered that, after I asked for a late checkout and reminded them three times, someone still knocked on my door at 11:15.
The front desk clerk was willing to work with us after inspecting the room, though we had to push a bit to get a refund. We checked in and quickly realized the online photos were very misleading. The building smelled strongly of urine outside, and inside the lobby mildew hit us as soon as we saw it covering the vents. Our room was disgusting: stained sheets and comforter, stained shower curtain, hair left in the shower by a previous guest, pimple patches stuck to the carpet, and a suspicious-looking spot by the fridge that might have been bodily fluid. The smoke alarm had no batteries, with its compartment left open. Once we noticed that, we asked for a refund and left. I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy. Yuck.
