I’ve never stayed in a worse hotel. The room was tiny and damp even with the air conditioning on. At first it smelled of marijuana, and by morning there was a urine smell too. I couldn’t get hot water in the shower, although the sink had hot water. I only stayed one night before a flight the next morning. I’d strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.
We booked through Priceline at the last minute for a Labor Day weekend in KC and learned the hard way that going cheap was a mistake. Before leaving Iowa, I called to make sure they’d received our reservation. The person on the phone was curt and seemed uninterested in helping, though he confirmed they had it. After the three-hour drive, the lobby made us think we’d chosen badly. Boxes took up half the space, it wasn’t welcoming, and it smelled musty and foul. In the first room, the bathroom light wouldn’t turn on. At the front desk I was told nobody could come look and they were completely out of rooms. After some back and forth, the employee suddenly put a new key on the counter and said another room had opened up. It was even dirtier: stains on the walls and sheets, torn carpet, and an odor you couldn’t ignore. We went straight to the nicer hotel across the street and booked a room. When I told the desk we were checking out, I asked for a paper receipt so I could try for a refund. The employee said handing out paper receipts was against policy. After more arguing, he slapped down just one of the two receipt pages for the nearly $200 I’d paid for two nights. It wasn’t worth dealing with him any longer, so we left for our clean hotel. This place is disgusting and customer service is terrible. Pick a decent place for a weekend getaway. Whoever responds to these reviews, please contact me so we can figure out a refund. The hotel was completely unacceptable.
I’d give this place negative stars if I could. I traveled from two states away and had reserved the room well in advance. At 1 in the morning, I’m scrambling to change my plans and hoping my money comes back promptly. The front desk attendant was very rude and seemed to be trying to scam me over the pet policy. I’d already paid, but he demanded another $300 for one pet and kept refusing to show an itemized receipt.
Avoid this hotel. I’d read the bad reviews and knew I was taking a chance, but wow. My flight landed at 11:30PM, so I called earlier that day to confirm the reservation and tell them I’d check in late. I also completed their “pre-check in,” giving my credit card details and a copy of my license, so I was supposed to just collect the room key on arrival. After a long travel day, I found the front desk guy half asleep in a lobby chair. He eventually woke up and stumbled over to the desk. Although they already had my ID and card from the pre-check-in, he asked for them again, then said the card was declined. He just stared blankly until I asked what we could do. He said he couldn’t check me in without running the card again. I told him to forget it and refund the prepaid booking. He said he couldn’t and I’d need to call in the morning. I called, but the refund was denied. I went to a nice hotel up the road instead, where, shockingly, my card worked fine. Even if this place is cheap, it isn’t worth a penny or a second of your time.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is close to the airport with a free shuttle. You can leave your vehicle there too. The room was clean, though very small, and the carpet was dirty. The bathroom was clean but had a crack in the ceiling. The TV was great, and there’s free Wi-Fi. They also have a breakfast buffet, but we left too early to try it.
