Residence Inn by Marriott Kansas City Airport

We wanted a microwave, and the room had one, plus it was roomy and very comfortable. The place was clean, the staff super friendly, and breakfast was good. I’d definitely stay again on our next trip to KC.

The rooms could use a little more attention to maintenance details, though I know from working in maintenance that keeping up with damage from bad guests can be hard. The staff were working incredibly hard for everyone staying on New Year's Eve, running around all night and morning and sweating from the effort. Even under that pressure, they kept a good attitude. It was a great stay overall.

The stay itself was great, but I can’t recommend this place while Ronnie is general manager. Toby, the assistant manager, made check-in quick and easy, and Christy at the desk was just as warm and helpful. The room was clean and spacious, with a really comfortable bed, decent shower pressure, and a kitchen stocked with most essentials. Breakfast was fine, especially thanks to Kaitlyn, who was kind, attentive, and kept everything stocked. She deserves a raise. I was ready to leave a perfect review until a problem came up when my company extended my stay and I had to check in again. Toby handled it wonderfully, but when I gave my card for incidentals, the hotel charged the full room price instead of a simple hold. Toby noticed and said it should be refunded, but it never was. My personal Visa was charged for a booking already paid for by my company. Ronnie confirmed that the company payment was processed on its corporate MasterCard through a third party, not my card, but said he couldn’t find the $215.18 charge in the hotel system because they “use an old version.” I tried several times to explain that the hotel had taken the charge directly, not the booking system, but he spoke over me and kept telling me to contact the third party. I hadn’t even made the booking, our logistics team did. I had to dispute it with my bank, even though Ronnie practically begged me not to. I’m including a screenshot of the charge he said “never happened.” I’m also still waiting for a $130 incidental hold to drop off, after being told it would only be $40. Financially, something isn’t adding up. I strongly suggest staying elsewhere unless management changes or Toby is promoted. Ronnie’s handling of this was dismissive and unprofessional, and came across like he was dodging responsibility.

We needed a bigger room so the whole family would have space, and this hotel delivered way beyond what I expected. It even had a full fridge, stovetop, dishwasher, utensils, and a complete set of dishes. The staff were lovely too, with sweet, calming demeanors.
