Motel 6 Katy, TX - Houston

The night attendant moved us to a much cleaner room after I pointed out the problems, which helped. The first one was tiny, filthy, and run down. The floor felt sticky and somehow oily, the TV was broken, and there was BBQ sauce on the floor with its container. Someone had also left crumbs and a Tupperware lid on a bed.

My boyfriend and I were there from September 1st through September 6th, and it was a miserable, unsafe week. On Wednesday we discovered the room door could be opened without a key. That meant for the first three days anyone could have walked in while we were sleeping or showering, and our belongings weren’t secure when we were out. We told the front desk. A young woman in a t-shirt and booty shorts came to look at the door, acted like she didn’t know how it happened, and laughed in my face. We asked to speak to the manager, then got the runaround Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The room’s shower was impossibly hot, and the whole place is more than a little worn out. There wasn’t any complimentary coffee, either, despite the advertising. The lobby had a bad smell when we came in, and it got diabolical in the hallways. We came for the pool after seeing the inviting photos and the full advertisement, only to be told it had been decommissioned. There’s still a huge road sign promoting it. We were told the pool area was something like a cesspit, so if you have to stay, choose a noisy roadside room over one overlooking it. It may claim to be the cheapest motel in Katy, though even that could be untrue like the pool. Either way, it costs too much for what it offers. I’ve seen people call this motel ‘passable’. I’d say keep driving.

If you’re heading west, be ready to make a U-turn. You’ll figure that out after you get there, so don’t try to plan it unless you put the address into your GPS. Reply “Yep” if you end up having to turn around.
