The room was clean and had everything we needed, but the air conditioning wouldn’t switch off, so it got really cold. The privacy curtain on the door also needs replacing. It doesn’t really stop people from seeing into the room. The location worked well for us, especially if you’re not planning to use the resort much. It’s only a 5-10 minute walk away, but breakfast there was a bit of a hassle. We’d already paid for it, but ended up eating elsewhere because it was just okay, nothing special.

I thought I’d booked a room at the Southernmost Resort, but when I arrived I learned it was actually at this Duval Gardens guest house. The place smelled like mildew, and now I’m covered in bites from my neck to my ankles. I had to throw away my luggage. Management moved me to the resort area, which saved me from getting more bites, but I’m still waiting for proper compensation for what I went through at Duval Gardens.

This is a long way from the actual hotel, and even though it’s part of it, it has a different name. It’s right on Duval street and has its own private heated pool, but the rooms smell musty. All night, there’s ticking and gurgling in the room. The rooms by the ocean or cafe are much better.

We’ve stayed at Duval Gardens twice, but this will be our last visit. The pool there was unsanitary and unusable because of visible mold. Also, breakfast for the Bed and Breakfast is now down past the main resort. Our room was very clean, but the mold and mildew smell was awful. We got used to it while we were inside, but after the trip our clothes, luggage, backpacks, and neck pillows all had a terrible, lasting mildew smell.

The room was tiny, though I knew that when I booked. It was quiet, with no kids or noisy bars nearby, and breakfast on the porch was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful, and everything was very clean. The chickens were cool, too. Still, the Duval Gardens pool had been closed by the city for “violations,” and the promised rides to and from the main resort were hard to arrange. Even after texting the concierge number, we ended up walking a lot. The main resort itself was very nice and clean, but the so-called “private beach” was laughable because you can’t reach the water, it’s just private sand. There’s a public beach next to the hotel with their chairs and umbrellas, but it’s tiny and full of seaweed. A week after we left, they incorrectly charged us over $300 for parking, even though we didn’t have a car. I had to call to get it corrected. For over $800 a night, we expected better.
