Sleep Inn Scott/Lafayette West

The employees and owners are friendly, but the breakfast didn't feel safe to eat. The milk container wasn't clean, the juice machine nozzles were very dirty, and the cereal was stale. I didn't risk trying the waffle mix. There are maintenance problems everywhere, too. This feels like a $45-a-night room, not one worth what they charge.

I paid a cash deposit and asked for a receipt. He replied, “This is our livelihood, do you think I would scam you for $50?” At checkout the next morning, he inspected the room and said he wouldn't return my deposit because of a stain on the sheets. My two-year-old had spilled orange juice. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

I recently met the owners, and they were kind and helpful. The hotel was spotless and clean, too.

The desk worker was very nice, and gave us a refund without any trouble. That was the only good part. We stopped in at 2am thinking it couldn't be that bad, but the elevator was broken and nobody told us before we booked. We were on the second floor, so took the stairs; the walls were stained, with visible signs of water leaks. The hallway smelled strongly musty, and the room was worse, with visible stains on the carpet and walls. The bathroom light switch shocked me when I tried to turn it on. The bathroom door was broken and had gross splatters on both sides. A brick was holding up the wardrobe cabinet. My husband will usually stay in any hotel, but even he wouldn't stay here.
