Best Western Plus Prien Lake Hotel & Suites - Lake Charles

Breakfast could use more variety, but for the price this is definitely good value. We stayed just one night at Best Western Plus in Lake Charles. The room was clean, nice, and comfortable, and the quiet, peaceful atmosphere was much appreciated. The front desk listened to our requests and gave us a great room. Aside from breakfast, we had a very good stay.

The quick way they handled our room change earned them an extra star from me. The first room smelled like dog, so we asked for another and they assigned one without any drama. The night desk person came on as we checked in and was very personable, asking how our holidays had been and what our favorite gift was. We spent two nights at Best Western Plus on W. Prien Rd in Lake Charles. It’s about 5 miles from the casinos, and was clean, comfortable, and fairly priced. Service was customer oriented, as it should be. The attractive interior lobby has an indoor pool, business center, workout gym, and two elevators for the four floors. Breakfast is always a plus for us. They had waffles, fresh bananas, apples and oranges, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, hot and cold cereal, juices, milk, regular and decaf coffee, yogurt, cream cheese, butter, peanut butter, jelly, and more. The gravy was a little thin for our taste. I’d give it five stars and book again when I’m in Lake Charles, La.

The staff were really great, especially the night worker who helped us book over the phone when car trouble sent us looking for a last-minute place. The hotel was nice and the rooms were fine, though one room smelled of a common "plant." Breakfast wasn’t good: the waffles and eggs tasted weird, and the sausage was the most decent item. They didn’t have yogurt, cereal, or things like that. It was good enough for a last-minute stay. Also, there was Santa in the lobby when we checked out, which made our girl's day!

They held $50 for room damage while I was traveling for work, then charged that amount for dirty sheets. I asked for photos, and the pictures they sent weren’t from my room. I explained that to the manager and asked for a timeline of when the room had been cleaned and by whom. He absolutely refused to provide one. Corporate couldn’t help at all. I can only dispute the charge, not the hotel stay itself. As far as I can figure, this is a scam. It’s sad that shady companies resort to this to take advantage of customers.
