Fairfield Inn and 38 Suites Wisconsin Dells

They said my family’s emotional support animal could stay, first when I called the 1(800) number before arrival and again at Saturday check-in. I was also told there would be no fee. We checked out four days later without any incident or accident, then the hotel put an unauthorized $200 charge on my card without asking me verbally or in writing. When I called, I got several excuses, and the manager was nasty and even said the animal wasn't an emotional support animal. I will NEVER stay at their hotels again. You can't treat hardworking people this way and expect their business.

The mini-fridges are an odd setup: they only run for two hours at a time to chill things, so they aren't meant for keeping food cold all day or overnight. The front desk confirmed that all the rooms have them. It worked for my situation, but could be a hassle on a longer stay or road trip if you want to store snacks and leftovers. This was my first stay at a Fairfield inn, and I'd come back. My room was clean, updated, and comfortable, with a nice walk-in shower and large shampoo bottles on the wall. Breakfast had a good range, including hot eggs and meat plus the usual continental choices, and the area was clean. I just wish there'd been cut fruit instead of only whole apples. Staff were friendly, maybe a little too friendly: at check-in the front desk manager kept asking personal questions and seemed surprised I was a woman traveling alone, which creeped me out. Aside from that, I enjoyed the stay.

The second room was cleaner and more updated, with a different shower. The first one smelled strange, and its heater gave off another unpleasant smell while grinding loudly. It seems like the hotel is still being upgraded from what it used to be.

The shower leaked across the bathroom, and there was no floor drain to take the water away. For a two-person room they supplied just one large towel. We asked for a replacement bed sheet, but it never arrived; the sheet wasn't fitted and slipped off the mattress while we were sitting on the bed, leaving the mattress exposed for whoever sleeps there. Breakfast was okay when items were available, but they didn't replace the muffins, and the juice and waffle batter were watered down so much that the juice was nearly clear and the waffles weren't good. This hotel is run by Dells Parkway Hotel Group II, LLC, not Marriott, which may be the problem. Stay somewhere else.
