Baymont by Wyndham Lake George

The room had ants, a mildew smell, and a broken toilet seat. We also found out the outdoor pool was closed because it had “issues.” The indoor pool area was unusable: fumes stung our eyes and noses while we were there and for about 15 minutes after leaving. The hot tub was drained. We came for a quick family weekend, having stayed here a few years ago when it was an Econolodge. We expected a similar stay, maybe better with the new branding, but the whole visit disappointed us. A motorcycle convention was staying too, which was fine, except people came in at 1:30AM and partied loudly until 3:00AM. Staff should probably have stepped in. When we raised everything the next morning, there was no apology or effort to help, and they didn’t even note the ants or broken seat. Just a blank stare and they took our money. If we’d planned more than one night, we would have accepted any cancellation penalty to go elsewhere. We won’t stay at a Wyndham again.

The location is great, but that’s the only thing this place has going for it. We refused to stay and booked another hotel down the road. Management wouldn’t refund us and insisted the hotel was clean. The building was in disrepair, dark, dirty, and smelled like mold. Our room was disgusting: mold on the ceiling, dirty sheets and bedspread, a huge blood stain on the mattress, and stained carpets that didn’t look vacuumed. Even the lobby guest computer had screen savers showing a person flipping people off. The online pictures don’t prepare you for it. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else in Lake George.

The manager was a nice man, but he didn’t do anything to make up for the disappointment. We paid $149, then later found out other shabby motels were available for $79. The pool was empty and only just starting to fill from a garden hose. The indoor pool had just been filled and looked very shabby. Our room was tiny, with mildew on the shower door, tattered carpets, and a broken towel bar. There was no coffee or cups in the room. Breakfast amounted to a stale danish and a shriveled orange in a paper bag. The whole place needs a face-lift.

The location was good, but this was a horrible stay. Our first room was dirty, with stains on the sheets and comforter, crumbs all over the floor, and leftover food in the fridge. The next day our key stopped working. The woman said she couldn’t fix it, had no spare key, and there was no maid service, just her and one kid. She said another room wasn’t an option because it hadn’t been cleaned. After I kept pointing out that this was their business and I’d paid in advance, she eventually gave us another room. It wasn’t set up, so I offered to clean it myself if she’d give me sheets and towels. That room also had crumbs everywhere and a gross bathroom. Nothing else nice to say. I don’t recommend it.
