The rooftop pool was fun, and the clean, contemporary rooms felt like a change from the old-school Fremont hotels. It’s well placed for exploring Fremont and the Arts District, and the prices are very reasonable. The casino is small but has a good vibe, and Freedom Beat restaurant was surprisingly good. For downtown Vegas, this is one of the best places to stay, with great value.

We were right at Fremont Street, but the rooms were quiet, which is a real plus when the street stays loud late into the night. Service was good, and the hotel cafe had pretty good coffee and breakfast. The table games and slots are limited, and the hotel’s casino offers could be improved a lot. They weren’t decent offers.

For Valentine’s weekend we had a ton of fun and got great value downtown. Our top-floor one-bedroom suite was huge, and the staff were very polite. Check-in may feel slow to some, but we loved our stay and will be back. Valet parking was cheaper than trying to find a spot, so I’d recommend paying the $20.00.

Mr. Gregory (at FD) helped me choose the room that best fit me and my needs. He was patient, kind, knowledgeable, and courteous the whole time, with a huge personality and a beautiful smile. He made me feel welcome as soon as I walked into the lobby. He and the other staff at Downtown Grand provide excellent customer service and do what they say they’ll do without reminders. Mr. Gregory and the team are absolutely AWESOME. I’m definitely coming back.

The only disappointment this time was finding out Freedom Beat had closed since my last visit. I loved starting the day there with steak and eggs. But this is Vegas, and there’s steak and eggs everywhere, so I should probably go for a walk and find some. The DTG pool area was a highlight on an 85° day, with a rectangular pool and lots of seating. The servers looked nice, and the temperature and vibe were perfect. The entry-level casino mixes old and new Vegas and has a sportsbook. Furnace Bar is in the middle, and the team took great care of my dad and me. The beer prices are modest, and the service reminded me of a real Vegas bar from the 2000s. It’s a fun place to hang out. The upgraded rooms were super clean, with a massive window wall, step-in tiled showers, and bathroom vanity mirrors. The hotel is close to Fremont St., where there’s always something going on. It’s one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at, especially around Vegas. I highly recommend Downtown Grand Hotel and will be back when I’m in town.
