The pub restaurant is worth trying, especially the nachos and pizza. The pizza was soft the next day, too. My room was okay, though the sink smelled like sewer, which is why I’m giving four stars. Security is tight, with your key card only letting you onto your own floor. Jose at the bell desk inside was super cool, informative, and professional. Make sure to tip him. I had a nice stay and plan to come back soon.

We liked the room and the hotel atmosphere, but the fees left a sour taste. We booked The Strat through Redtag, where our voucher listed resort fees of 32.99 per night. At check-in they said it was 49.99 USD nightly. With the exchange rate, that felt like a money grab or hidden charge, especially since we didn’t use the amenities and the pool was closed. There was also another 93.00 Cndn charge on my card. They told me it was a system glitch when I called, but said correction would take 5-7 business days. I’d rather see resort fees included in the room price or charged only when amenities are used. This seems important for Canadians, who may be told one amount at booking and charged 50% more. Our upgraded room was spacious, clean, had a beautiful mountain view, and a very comfortable bed. The TV often didn’t work and we couldn’t access the free Wi-Fi. The Strat itself was very clean. The location felt a bit sketchy, with many unfocused people and people clearly struggling with addiction or mental health issues. A few scenes on the walk to the bus stop or toward the Strip felt unsafe, so people should know about that before booking.

Getting to downtown Vegas was easy: the Deuce stops across the street and takes about seven minutes. There’s also a good breakfast place nearby, across from the Strat. Our complimentary two-night stay had a very good-sized room with a king bed, a little view toward the hills, and enough bathroom space for toiletries. We didn’t eat at the hotel, though the dining area was always full. The casino had plenty of slots and table games. We really like the Strat and will be back for an inexpensive, comfortable stay.

The location was okay, but the room wasn’t well equipped. The coffee machine didn’t work; I reported it twice and got a replacement that was even worse. Shower water came out very slowly, the toilet paper holder was broken, and housekeeping didn’t clean the floor at all. I hope management improves things.

Don’t pay extra for a nicer room. A friend who skipped the upgrade got a much better room than we did. Our safe was broken, and it took three calls or visits to the front desk over two days before it was finally fixed. I had to tell them we wouldn’t ask a fourth time. The bathroom fan cover was duct taped to the wall, the vinyl plank floor buckled in places or had wide gaps, and the bathroom wallpaper was peeling and clearly uncleaned. The toilet paper holder fell off at first use, some electrical and USB outlets didn’t work, and some towels had holes. The fan on the heating and air-conditioning unit was so loud that we left it off most of the time. When we learned the safe couldn’t be fixed after all, we changed rooms, but the second room wasn’t much better. The upstairs area where McDonalds is located has seen better days, and its escalator stayed broken throughout our visit. Casino restaurants had limited hours and menu options. I don’t even know where to start with this place.
