The beds were clean, but old, and the carpet was so stained it made me nervous to walk on it barefoot. We kept our shoes on. One room had a broken TV, and the bathroom sink had no hot water. On our last night, tiny ants covered my parents' room and woke them at 4 a.m. We moved them into our room and told the front desk. They offered another room, but it was basically morning, so we stayed up and packed the cars. At checkout, they asked whether we'd damaged anything before returning our deposit. There was no discount for the ants or the lost sleep, and I wouldn't stay here again. We'd booked at least a month ahead and hadn't been told about the $100 cash deposit per room. At least it was refundable.

The room was basic, which was fine, but they never cleaned it or changed the sheets or towels. The WiFi was unreliable too.

I didn't feel safe in Room 18 because it wouldn't lock when I left. Turning on the heater also brought a cigarette smell.

We came to see our kids and attend our grandson's high school graduation, so we weren't planning to spend much time in the room. Still, at $100 a night we expected a comfortable place to return to. After a lot of persistence from my husband, they moved us, though the next room wasn't much better. The managers first said we could have another room for one night and then would have to move back. They even suggested canceling and going elsewhere, but the strawberry festival had filled the motels. When we checked out, the manager said they don't usually return the deposit. My husband pushed back, and we did get it back. We'd reserved three nights two weeks in advance, then called around 11:30 at night to ask if we could check in a night early. They said yes, and charged us for that extra night plus a $100 deposit. Room #15 smelled pungent and musty, and it was dirty, with stained carpet. The hot and cold knobs were broken and kept turning until we found a position that slowed the water and eventually shut it off. The shower knobs were reversed, plumbing pipes stuck out of the wall, there was no bathroom heat, and the window blinds didn't provide privacy. An electrical outlet was exposed in the ceiling where the heat lamp should have been. They told us it was the smoke detector, which clearly it wasn't. The floor outside the bathroom felt spongy, as if water damage or rot had weakened it, and the water pressure was awful. The next morning my husband raised all this with the managers, who were very difficult to deal with. The AC and heater didn't work properly either. The fan kept running, and we were told the unit didn't shut off automatically. Once the room reached a certain temperature, the heat stopped and cold air came in from outside. It's a mother and daughter management team, and they didn't seem to know what they were doing. My husband asked to speak to the owner, but they wouldn't let him. They said the owner was her uncle. Dishonest and scandalous. Don't waste your money.

After a 10-hour drive from Idaho, I just wanted a straightforward check-in, but the front desk made me feel like I was inconveniencing them. During check-in, the dad paced around the parking lot while the youngest daughter learned the process from a woman who didn't speak English. The rooms are run down, and mine had no soap or coffee pot for the coffee machine. It felt like the family running the place was trying to save money that way. The woman kept repeating things in another language and adding the word “deposit” until the daughter explained I owed a $100 cash deposit for my four-night stay. That hadn't been mentioned when I booked, and I had no cash. She said I could bring it the next day and that there was an ATM across the street. On work trips I usually work from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., so I wasn't sure the ATM in a bank lobby, which wasn't my bank, would be open when I finished. My jobsite wasn't ready the next day, so I needed to leave early. I've done that plenty of times without much trouble. I called Expedia at 7 a.m. to request a refund for the unused nights, but the motel office was locked, despite being listed online as open 24 hours. Expedia reached the trainee daughter, who said the motel would refund me. She let me into the office after Expedia contacted her, then said she wouldn't issue the refund just as the representative was about to end the call. Expedia had to refund me instead. I've stayed at the three cheapest hotels in this town, and this was the worst by far. Even among Lebanon's cheap motels, it's easily the worst option. I know you get what you pay for, but this was bad even compared with the other budget places. I'll avoid it next time I'm working in Lebanon.
