The Shaker Inn

The best thing for us was how close the Inn is to downtown. We were there for a performance at the Oktoberfest and checked in late. Miles was kind and obliging when he checked me in. The event was under a mile away, an easy hike for Germans, so we could enjoy a German Bier without drinking and driving. The room was spacious and clean, and the parking lot and grounds were spotless. It was just what I expected for the price.

It’s a standard motel room and a little dated, but ours was very clean, smelled fresh, and had a firm, comfortable bed. The bathroom felt tight, though the sink and vanity were outside it. We had a nice mini fridge, no microwave in the room, but the vending area right next to us had one and ice. I’d recommend it and would stay again if I’m in the area.

The room was clean, the price was cheap, and it’s very close to town. But we could hear the neighboring rooms, and parking lot lights shone in all night. The bed was so stiff and uncomfortable that it actually caused us pain when we tried to sleep. The front desk staff spoke to us rudely, and the door wouldn’t lock from the outside. You could just push it open without a key. I know experiences can differ, but after this one we’ll stay somewhere else when we come back to town.

We planned on one night, but liked the place enough to stay the whole weekend. It’s an older motel, though the rooms are incredibly clean and well maintained. The staff were very nice, even with us arriving after 10 pm and overflowing the ice bucket. We’ll definitely be back and will recommend it to friends and family.
