Super 8 by Wyndham Lebanon

This was one of the best Super 8s I’ve stayed in. The room and hotel were clean and well kept, the bed was comfortable, and the TV was a nice size. Service was decent, nothing special but nothing to complain about. There were a couple of stink bugs in the room, which is to be expected in VA. Breakfast was the usual Super 8 setup, but fine, and the water was boiling hot when I wanted it. I travel a lot and used to choose Wyndham, mostly Super 8, because it was fairly inexpensive. But after a terrible stay at their Fredricksburg, VA hotel, I tried several times to get a response from Corporate or their PR department and got brushed off to the hotel manager. That manager repeatedly accused my spouse and me of making things up and lying. We lasted about an hour in the room before leaving. I’d never complained about a Wyndham stay before, and as a Diamond member, I was surprised to be treated like a compulsive negative reviewer over one serious issue. They don’t seem to care about your visits or experiences, so pay attention to each hotel’s reviews. Sorry this got long.

The toilet wouldn’t flush, and the A/C had problems. We checked in Sunday and left Monday, but they’re claiming we stayed until Friday. The manager was rude, and they’ve taken extra money from my card. They knew I had service dogs, and my husband smokes, but he took it outside. Now they’re saying he smoked in the room and that I didn’t report my service animals. Worst hotel ever.

The place was quiet and clean everywhere, even outside, and the location suited my visit perfectly. Connie and Damian were great.

The price was right, the bed was comfortable, the shower was nice, and there were plenty of soaps and other supplies. The coffee was good too, though breakfast was limited, and the yogurts we got for both my wife and me were almost a month past their expiration date. They smelled bad as soon as we opened them. We’d booked through booking.com, where our reservation wasn’t refundable, but when we arrived we were told our room wasn’t available. They tried to upgrade us, leaving us in a bind. The man at the desk wasn’t very friendly and only found us a room after my wife said how frustrating it was. There were five cars in the lot, yet they said they couldn’t find a room. We’d asked for a first-floor room because we were traveling by motorcycle, but had to carry everything upstairs to the second floor. The pet-friendly room they gave us had the worst smell we’ve ever encountered in a hotel, like ammonia and urine covered up, not mustiness. If you urgently need a room, this will do, but don’t expect anything fancy. There are plenty of restaurants in a nice area nearby. There’s no overhang for parking a motorcycle and no outdoor security cameras except at the front door. There was also a handwritten note in the notepad from someone to their girlfriend. I hope they find peace, happiness, and love and get things figured out.
