Super 8 London

I already sent in a critique about my stay at the Motel 6 in London, Ky. Everything about the hotel, the staff, and the service was terrible, and the money would have been better spent somewhere else. I've stayed in many hotels and travel at least twice a month, but I've never had an experience this bad. I won't stay at another Motel 6 or make reservations with them again.

I got a discounted rate, and it makes me wonder whether paying full price would have gotten me a coffee maker, hair dryer, Kleenex, a fresh toilet paper roll, or maybe even a small shampoo bottle. The heater barely worked, so the room was uncomfortably cool, and the thin blankets didn't help. The pillows were tiny squares and terrible. The first-floor ice machine looked like it hadn't worked in a while. I couldn't wait to leave.

The staff were pretty cool, and the room was nice. Breakfast was all right, nothing special. We didn't get any clean towels, even though there were maybe only two other people checked in and the parking lot was mostly empty. When I checked my bank account after arriving, there was already a $60 charge before I walked in. The woman explained it was a pre-authorization, which was fine. The next morning there was another $85 charge. I figured it was tax on the $133 and that I'd been overcharged, so I let it go, but then there was a $111 charge too. Odd. Later, our key card didn't work when we came back to change and shower, but that was an easy fix. Would I stay again? Probably. I'll likely pay cash and use a prepaid card because I don't like my money being played with. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Rooms were updated and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were traveling north from Florida during Hurricane Matthew, when rooms were nearly impossible to find. After one full hotel along I75 suggested this Super 8 at the next exit, we were pleasantly surprised. The location works well for people driving I75, and rates are reasonable, though they could maybe be a bit lower. They may have been higher than usual at the time because other places had no availability. There was a pool, but it was empty. I'm not sure whether that was because of a problem or the time of year. Parking is outside the room, and the entrances are outdoors.
