Hampton Inn Long Beach Airport

We probably won't choose this hotel again, mainly because the road noise made it hard to sleep. It's clean and in a convenient spot near the airport, LBX, and several other places to eat. Our smallest basic room was adequate and functional, with plenty of outlets, plus a shower with strong pressure and reliably hot water. The check-in desk agent was friendly and helpful. The person who checked us out and drove the shuttle wasn't very pleasant, didn't offer to help with luggage, and had a noticeably negative attitude that didn't feel hospitable. There's some wear in the room, and the AC and heating controls took a bit of figuring out, though that can happen at many hotels. We had to leave before breakfast was served, so can't comment on it. Our phones stayed on LTE inside and never picked up 5G, though the signal improved outside in some spots. The checkout experience and noise will probably send us elsewhere next time.

Please be careful crossing at the light. Even when pedestrians have a green light, many drivers in Long Beach don't care, run red lights, and may hit you and drive off. Most drivers also don't stop at the pedestrian crossing, and for some reason the city hasn't put a stop sign there. Maybe the hotel can contact the city about how unsafe it is. The hotel itself is amazing, and I'm a Hilton member.

The hotel is beautiful and new, with spotless rooms, clean public spaces, a nice pool and Jacuzzi with great views of the Long Beach airport, and a wonderful breakfast staff. The lobby was decorated beautifully for Christmas, with a big tree. We planned one night as a toddler-free Christmas gift from family, but an alarm we hadn't set woke us rudely at 6 a.m. My wife couldn't get back to sleep, so sleeping in was ruined. The desk manager apologized and comped some things, which we appreciated. A power outage lasting more than 24 hours meant we had to stay another night, so we booked a second room and brought the kids. We specifically mentioned the alarm at check-in, and the manager sent maintenance. The maintenance guy came out of our room saying he'd "taken care of it." At 6 a.m. the next morning, the alarm went off again and woke the whole family, including our one-year-old and three-year-old. My wife went downstairs to complain since she couldn't sleep again. The manager said maintenance had unplugged the clock (they hadn't), then accused us of plugging it back in. When we showed photos of the hidden, inaccessible plug in a "floating drawer/shelf," she admitted it would be nearly impossible without tools. She couldn't say what the maintenance guy had actually done. It was a second reservation, a different room, and the same issue after maintenance supposedly fixed it. The desk manager responded differently the second time, offering candy for the kids but no comp after the complaint. Because of this, we won't stay here again when visiting family, which we do often.

The whole hotel was extremely clean. At breakfast, the kitchen was impeccable, hot food came out in small batches so it stayed hot, and staff kept replenishing and cleaning. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. Check-in was easy, the room was very nice and clean, and breakfast was good.
