Fenix Hotel Hollywood

The housekeepers were a big reason for my 5 stars. They were helpful, kept me supplied with water and coffee, and came to my aid when I had trouble getting into the building. I had zero complaints overall and would stay again. I was in room 107, which felt like a cozy studio apartment. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and there was more than just the basics in the room. I felt safe, despite some questionable activity in the area. The kitchenette didn't have plates, bowls, or utensils, but that wasn't a deal breaker. I didn't use the pool, but walked down to see that it and the area were clean. The outside patio and lounge didn't look like the website photos. They were dingy, and the furniture was sun-worn, though I wasn't there for that amenity. My room was by the stairs and got noisy at one point, but it didn't bother me. Franklin Ave is busy and can be loud, so it wouldn't suit light sleepers. There was also a slight mildew smell in the room, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The hotel is close to many things, which was a bonus. I used El Cerritos place for my Lyfts because Franklin Ave is impossible. I went to Warner Bros studios and Universal Studios, and it didn't take long to get to either. The train, buses, and Lime scooters were all easy to access from the property.

The room was spacious and clean, and having a full kitchen and laundry was great. The neighborhood was okay, and the hotel is right by all the Hollywood landmarks. If you plan to park there, reserve a spot. Arriving late and having to carry luggage over from Ovation parking was neither safe nor convenient.

This place runs on an apartment concept, like Airbnb, rather than hotel service. You handle the whole process yourself using instructions sent by email or text, so read them before you arrive. The apartment has a kitchen, washer, dryer, detergent, microwave, and silverware. It's in a very busy, noisy area with no street parking unless you have permits. Light sleepers, this isn't for you. They provided earplugs. The deposit is $200-250, and parking costs $25. It's close to Walk of Fame, about 10 mins to Thai town, etc.

We came from the east coast and followed the instructions sent to access the room, but when we opened the door it hadn't been cleaned. There's no staff on site, so I called the hotel number. They sent me details for three hotels that might have a room for my family, but wouldn't cover the difference between what I'd paid and the more expensive last-minute booking. They refunded the hotel fees, but since it was their mistake, I felt they should've found us a room at their expense. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
