We booked two rooms for three nights and the stay was okay. General manager Steve was the standout. He arranged rooms next to each other and did what he could to accommodate us. At check-in, we were told another card was needed for a $100 incidental hold. I think that was because of hotels .com, but we hadn’t been told before arriving, even though we’d paid in full. My experiences with the other front desk clerks weren’t ideal. The advertised DirecTV was glitchy, and features like on demand and streaming sign-ins didn’t work. After the first night, the desk said it would be fixed, but when we followed up, nobody had come to check the room. Parking was efficient and free, which I appreciated. The pool looked nice, though we didn’t use it. We hadn’t stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before and would stay again if we needed to, but next time in the area I’d look at other hotels first. We didn’t have a bad stay, though we enjoyed other hotels more that week.

The building is old, though clean, and my room was nice with a comfortable bed. I didn’t get a handicap room, our fault, and the toilet was so low that even with the bars I brought for my husband, it wasn’t enough. I had to help him. Breakfast was adequate.

I’ve been an IHG member with status for 20+ years, and this stay might finally send my business to Marriott. I’m halfway through a two-night stay at the Woodland Hills Holiday Inn, and last night I was jolted awake by what sounded like a nightclub techno concert through the paper-thin wall next door. There was also very loud talking and a long, enthusiastic bout of adult activity with rhythmic banging. No guessing what was going on. I called the front desk for help several times, and every call was ignored. I had to turn on the rickety old air conditioner and run it all night at 60 degrees to drown out the noise. I froze instead of sleeping. Neither quiet nor responsive service was on offer. If you like paper-thin walls, indifferent staff, and choosing between insomnia and hypothermia, this is the place for you. Holiday Inn, come for the paper-thin walls, and hope you don’t freeze.

At check-in, the guy at the desk was too busy on his phone to help me. We eventually got checked in, but when we went to park there were no spaces. Back at the desk, he said, “oh yea, I forgot,” and gave us a pass to park at Wendy’s. The room was warm, and the AC made an awful noise when I turned it on. I need a cool room to sleep, so I barely slept. The door latch was broken and barely attached. The pullout bed had no linens either. We called the desk, and he brought a pillow and a fitted sheet. We cancelled our second day and moved to another hotel. Breakfast was okay, though.

The hotel needs better upkeep. The room wasn’t bad and the A/C worked well, but the hallway smelled like marijuana. My bed was uncomfortable and noisy, and I woke up with a sore back. Parking was limited, staff were okay, and breakfast had a variety.
