Holiday Inn Express & Suites Los Angeles Downtown West by IHG

The hotel staff were great, and the property itself was fine. It’s centrally located for getting around Los Angeles. The concern is the number of homeless people and drug use nearby. A woman got inside during breakfast and helped herself to coffee. Staff tried to get her to leave, but she was persistent. I was with my wife and child, so I worried about them. If I were traveling alone, I probably wouldn’t have cared as much. I’d suggest having a security guard at the entrance all the time. I might stay again if I’m on my own.

The room was clean and spacious, and breakfast was decent. The front desk staff were friendly at check-in and greeted us whenever we came or went. Free parking and breakfast made this a great deal in downtown L.A. I arrived late the first night, when most of the parking spots were already taken, but finding a space was easy on the other nights. I’d stay here again if we’re in town.

The location was the worst part for me. Outside the parking garage when we arrived, I saw two people injecting something into each other. Inside the garage, almost in front of the lobby, someone was sitting, doing drugs, and lying there. The area felt extremely crowded with homeless people. It was saddening and scary to see, even though it’s outside the hotel’s control. The hotel itself was lovely, extremely clean, and our suite was very spacious. It had a king bed and a pullout couch, but not the double bed we’d booked through another website. They couldn’t match that booking, possibly because of the third party. I’d call the hotel with questions before booking and read the reviews first. We stayed two nights and had clean towels both days. Breakfast is served 7-10am on weekends and 6:30-9:30am on weekdays. There was fruit, oatmeal, coffee, bagels, muffins, toast, egg white with spinach, sausage patties, vegetable mix, biscuits and gravy. The pancake machine was broken. Free WiFi.

We spent a week here on a girls trip. The rooms fit us easily, and the service was amazing. The area felt a little sketchy at night, so we mostly drove instead of walking. There’s a parking garage. Breakfast was included every morning and was surprisingly good. We all loved the pancakes and biscuits and gravy.
