The front desk staff were polite and helpful, but the room condition made this stay disappointing. The facilities were old and poorly maintained, and noise came through the windows so clearly that we could hear passing cars and even a street protest downstairs. It was hard to rest. The AC was so loud, like a fan or blower, that sleeping with it on was impossible. The tub drain was clogged: after running the shower for just a minute, water took around 4-5 minutes to drain and quickly built up. The refrigerator door also wouldn't close properly. Nice service couldn't make up for all of that, so I wouldn't recommend the hotel without significant improvements.

The rooms look beautiful and modern, like you'd expect at a Japanese hotel, but the service from Jin in group bookings was awful. He ignored emails or wouldn't communicate. I called the hotel more than ten times and could never reach him because they never picked up. The front desk was nice but couldn't help with group bookings. I asked for a group contract three times, and despite having written proof, he claimed I hadn't asked. Don't work with Jin.

After a family dinner at the restaurant with our four kids, retrieving the car from valet turned into nearly an hour of trouble. We were told valet had to be paid in cash or at the front desk with a physical card. I didn't have my wallet because I use tap-to-pay everywhere. After waiting in a long front-desk line, I learned I also needed physical ID and the physical credit card. The terminals support contactless payments, but hotel policy doesn't allow tap-to-pay. I had to wait for a friend to bring cash since nearby ATMs don't support contactless withdrawals either. For a modern Downtown hotel in 2026, refusing contactless payment creates needless stress for families. After dinner with four kids, an extra hour just to get your own car is unacceptable. Bring cash or a physical card if you plan to use valet.

The rooms were great, and the staff were really helpful. When our festival, Camp Flog Gnaw, got pushed back a weekend, they did a lot to help us out. One of the better hotels I’ve stayed in. I’d come back.

Jose at the front desk patiently went through a few options with us until we found a room that worked. We’d been caught out when the DTLA DoubleTree cancelled our reservation while we were coming in from the airport in the rain, apparently because our room wasn’t waterproof, and we weren’t sure the Miyako had anything available. The whole stay at the Miyako turned out to be a delight. It’s an older hotel, like the DoubleTree, but it’s cared for and well maintained. I’d recommend it if you’re visiting Little Tokyo or other DTLA attractions.
