The Steady

I checked out on time and followed the stated requirements during my three-night stay. Since my flight was later that evening, I left my luggage in storage, then came back to the front desk to return a borrowed lock and finish up before leaving. I never went back to my room after checking out. While I was returning the lock, a staff member named AJ told me, “You should leave. You are not supposed to be here after you check out if you don’t have a reservation.” I had a valid reservation for all three nights. I simply no longer had an active reservation because it was checkout day and I’d checked out as required. AJ kept saying guests had to leave the property immediately after checkout. No one had told me about that rule at check-in, or said I couldn’t briefly stay on the property to handle departure or use the common areas. The abrupt, commanding way he spoke to me was shocking and upsetting, especially since I’d followed the rules. He pointed to a printed notice on a board, but it sits on a foldable desk panel that doesn’t face guests when staff are seated, so it isn’t visible during check-in. If the rule is enforced strictly, it should be clearly explained at check-in. The day before, another person from my shared room had stayed in the common area long after checkout without being asked to leave, which made the enforcement seem inconsistent and unfair. The whole interaction felt deeply disrespectful and unprofessional, and ruined the end of my stay. This happened on Dec 26/2025 in the evening.

The guests were respectful, and I slept well every night. The staff were incredibly friendly too. This is the best hostel I’ve stayed at, and I’ll be back next year.

I came from Canada and stayed here recently. The staff are always helpful, and the place was relatively clean. There are good food options nearby, and it’s fairly convenient as a city base, close to different neighborhoods. A good choice if you’re planning to spend your days out exploring the city.

Those movie nights in the greenhouse made the place feel cozy and communal, and the free breakfast each morning was a nice touch. I stayed a week and really loved it. The hostel is peaceful, clean, and green, with a lovely energy that made me feel at home. The price was very affordable too. Jasmine, Lily, and Stephanie were welcoming, professional, and genuinely kind. I enjoyed chatting with them and even got to practice Spanish. The other travelers were friendly as well, and I met fascinating people working in film, finance, and other industries. The bathrooms stayed clean with daily upkeep, and the beds and comforters were super comfortable after a long day. They also provide thoughtful extras like tea, peanut butter, and milk, which helped me feel looked after. Five stars all around.
