Holiday Inn Louisville Airport South by IHG

The hotel itself was fine, and there's a nice view for watching planes land. I usually choose places with EV charging, and this one has a charger, but I've never stayed somewhere that charged for it. Paying isn't the issue by itself. At $0.47/kwh for a Level 2 charger at 10kw, it costs more than most DC fast chargers I've used. Had I known, I wouldn't have booked here.

I won't stay here again. During snowy, freezing weather, the heater in my first room didn't work at all, and the room phone was broken too, so I had to call from my mobile and was put on hold while seeking help. They moved me, but the next heater barely worked. I set it to 85°F and the room only reached about 66°F. For a well-known brand, that level of maintenance and comfort was really disappointing. One of my worst hotel experiences.

The desk agents were efficient, but didn't make me feel welcome. They had a pretty sad Christmas tree, with hardly any ornaments or lights. Thinking back, maybe the agents stared at me without speaking or smiling because they were traumatized by that tree, not because of the massive burger I unknowingly had smeared across my face. They were silently warning me that The Grinch was real and had stolen the decorations and their Christmas cheer, night after night.

I usually book four- or five-star hotels when I travel for volleyball, so I wasn't sure about this one, but it turned out to be a lovely surprise. The location made it easy to get where I needed, and free parking was a real plus. My room was quiet, clean, and comfortable after long days, and breakfast each morning had a nice selection that saved me time and money. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the stay went smoothly. It offered good value without skimping on comfort, and I'd happily come back. I can't comment on the pool since I didn't use it.
