Our late arrival was handled really well by the staff. The rooms were spacious, clean and laid out nicely. I'd recommend staying here.

The first time I stayed here, just for one night the week before, it was lovely, so I booked again when I returned to town. The second visit wasn't nearly as good. I was put in room 212, whose bathroom badly needs updating. Two wallpaper corners above the door were peeling, the tub faucet stuck several inches out of the wall but still worked, and the shower head couldn't be adjusted because moving it shifted the pipe from the wall. There were two body washes and one shampoo, but no conditioner. I told customer service afterward and they noted the issues. Since I'd be back two more times in the next couple of weeks, I asked for a discount on that room or for returning several times. They said they'd make sure the next room had no issues. Apart from that room, the stay was fine. The breakfasts I've had at various Home2Suites have been great, with good proteins and potatoes as well as the usual breakfast carbs. The location worked perfectly for me, very close to Churchill Downs. One thing to watch for: there's a deep dip in the pavement near the third or fourth parking spot along the side of the hotel.

We went elsewhere for breakfast. The rooms looked nice in photos, but the property was run down, dirty and in need of repairs. Three rooms in our group needed their bedding changed. It seemed like bedding was reused without washing between guests. Under the covers, the sheets were clearly unchanged, the pillows smelled bad and there was hair on the sheets. Disgusting. This is unacceptable. The cleaning crew wasn't doing its job. In the bathroom, the broken mirrors had what looked like caulk repairs, with peeling wallpaper and broken shower tiles too.

As someone who travels to Louisville regularly and has diamond status, I've noticed standards slipping at this property over the past two years. On my September stay, one of the two elevators was out of service for more than four days. Room 412 was in terrible shape. The bathroom floor tiles shifted because they had separated from the subfloor, wallpaper was peeling, there were visible dirt or poop stains on painted walls, the tub faucet had pulled away from the tiled wall, and there was mold on the tub and shower grout. The conditioner dispenser had been replaced with a second body wash. The kitchen and microwave lighting was broken or burned out. Desk and floor lamps had very low wattage or nearly dead bulbs, leaving the room very dark. Direct TV programming or the remote worked only about half the time. The front desk interactions were mixed. The woman who answered the phone was borderline rude and wouldn't give basic information, even after confirming my reservation and status. At checkout, two women were eating breakfast and complaining about people who owed them $75. Neither asked how my stay was. The young woman at check-in, though, was friendly and professional, and I recognized her from earlier visits.
