Hotel Hilo

Dustin was kind and helpful when my flight was delayed for a long time and I had trouble checking in. Another staff member, whose name I didn’t catch, was sweet and helpful too. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and lovely, including a very roomy bathroom. The hotel is above a club and outdoor bar, which they’re upfront about. The doors cut a lot of courtyard noise, and earplugs took care of the rest. I was there Thursday, and after midnight it was completely quiet. The courtyard stays open much later on weekends, so bear that in mind. I liked the morning sunlight through the shades. It’s a cool place on a really great Louisville street, and I’d stay again.

The hotel is just 10 steps from my favorite club, which made it easy to go out and then come back to a stylish, relaxed place to crash. I loved the colorful walls, vibrant patterns, and lighting that gave the space a laid-back, party-ready feel. The rooms were cozy and chic, with a distinctive mix of modern style and artistic flair throughout. What an experience at Hotel Hilo. I can’t wait to visit again. Much Love-Jennifer Haliva

We booked one night for a concert, but when we returned, the courtyard had turned into a crowded club scene with music blaring. The hotel only has about four to six rooms, and there weren’t any parking spaces in the back despite the valet signs meant to keep people from parking there. We drove around for almost an hour and couldn’t find anything within walking distance, so we gave up and drove the 3.5 hours home. We asked for a partial refund and were denied. I would give zero stars if I could. Save your money. When we first arrived, a man, who I assume was an employee, smelled strongly of alcohol. He told us our room wasn’t quite ready but gave us the entry code. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!

We ended up driving three hours home after the concert because there was nowhere to park, either out front or in back. We searched for over 30 minutes, with police and patrol cars outside, and didn’t want to risk a tow by leaving the car far away. Hotels.com hadn’t made clear that the “hotel” also operates as a nightclub, so we expected a loud night if we stayed. The owner refused our partial refund request, saying the advertised free self-parking is first come, first served and open to anyone, so guests aren’t guaranteed a space. I might have overlooked that, but the place was also kind of dirty and unkempt. There’s no front desk. We checked in by talking to whichever guy was on duty and walking around, and there wasn’t a reliable way to reach anyone.
