Hampton Inn & Suites Lubbock University

The staff really made this stay for us. A big thank-you to the woman at the front desk with braids. I think her name started with A, maybe Aliyah or Alisha, but I can’t remember for sure. The property seemed well managed, and we had a very nice stay overall. It’s close to the college and a quick drive from fast food and fast-casual places. The one downside was the highway noise. The front desk said we could ask for a room facing away from it next time, so we’ll do that.

The beds were really comfortable, and the rooms were spotless. Breakfast was filling and better quality than expected, and the staff were friendly and efficient. I chose this place because it’s very close to Texas Tech University, which was convenient. Street traffic was noisy, and the Wi-Fi could be faster. Still, a dependable clean and comfortable choice for a visit to TTU or a stop on the way through.

Tia, the general manager, was polite and a huge help. The rooms were spotless, too. I was very pleased with the service and the stay, and we’ll definitely come back since we visit Lubbock so often.

The room itself was nice, and I had no issues with it. The front desk experience was another story. On a Saturday night in a college town, the clerk was also tending bar, and she didn’t seem to notice me and my coworker walking around the lobby trying to find the desk. A quick “I’ll be right there after I make these drinks” would have been enough. There was no apology or anything to make up for the irritation. Who would expect the desk clerk to be doing two jobs? The digital key wasn’t available yet, either, and no water was offered for being an Honors member.
