The cabins are cute and independent, with classic furniture and a gas fireplace. The grounds are pretty, the weather was spectacular, and the place felt very private. A couple getting married had a cabin near mine. Beaches are plentiful, just a short drive down the road. My cabin had a clean bathroom and kitchen, a fully equipped kitchen with full-size appliances except for the dishwasher, and dishes for only four. Dish soap, salt and pepper, coffee, tea, sugar, creamer, and towels were provided, so just bring food. The couch was a bit dusty. I enjoyed the delicious café, but watch out for the speed bumps. I couldn't get the TV to work. The hot tub wasn't working, and I don't know if it'll be fixed. The pool was cold.
Our family used Lighthouse Point Resort as a base for a whole week of exploring Point Arena and the surrounding area. You can head straight out from the cabin for long walks and hikes, and we visited nearby beaches and the lighthouse. The natural beauty along the coast near Highway 1 is hard to beat. The location is great for getting out on foot, and we'd definitely like to return. The resort has converted trailers into mini one-bedroom apartment cabins, which is the best way I can describe them. They're well maintained, as are the grounds. Each has its own porch, and there's a shared space where you can barbecue. It was quiet and peaceful, and I liked not sharing walls like in a hotel. My kids can be loud, so I felt less worried about them enjoying themselves. The place is simple, but clean and had everything we needed. Anyone wanting something fancy might want to look elsewhere. The workers were friendly and helpful, though we only needed to ask for extra room supplies. My family camps a lot, and my wife and I were both glad to have a private bathroom and kitchen. There's also coin-operated laundry on site. It's affordable and a huge step up from camping, especially if you want easy access to beautiful natural surroundings.
My family and I had a relaxing, good time, and the amenities made the stay more convenient and enjoyable. Still, several things were in rough shape: the pool was out of order, wall paneling was coming apart, the mini fridge didn't keep food and drinks very cold, and the air conditioning wouldn't stay on consistently. I wouldn't think of calling this place a “resort.”
I loved having coffee on the front porch and watching the sunrise. This was just right for my California Coast vacation, a quaint and comfortable one-bedroom cabin. It had a full kitchen with pots and pans, plates, cups and saucers, and other basics. The living room had a queen-size hide-a-bed, plus a gas fireplace and full bathroom. There's also a working pool and hot tub on the property.
Quiet, comfortable, and nice. I just wish there were easier places nearby to get down to the ocean.
